Can you believe November is already just around the corner?

In honor of Throwback Thursday, join us as we travel back in time to reflect on what happened in music history during this month in past years!

November 1st 1955 The Famous Flames, an R&B group led by James Brown, cut their very first demo of 'Please, Please Please' at a radio station in Georgia.

November 3rd 1960 Elvis Presley had his fifth No. 1 UK hit with 'It's Now Or Never', which remained at the top of the charts for eight weeks.

November 5th 1983 'Uptown Girl' by Billy Joel was No. 1 on the UK charts, staying there for a total of five weeks.

November 7th 1963 The Beatles went to Ireland to make their only two appearances ever in the country. Here, they played two shows at the Adelphi Cinema in Dublin.

November 9th 1969 Simon and Garfunkel recorded what would become their signature tune, 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' with the future member of Bread, Larry Knechtel, on piano.

November 11th 1954 Bill Haley scored his first US top ten single with 'Shake Rattle and Roll', after dropping his cowboy image and renaming his musical group The Saddlemen to Bill Haley and The Comets.

November 13th 1976 Rod Stewart began an eight week run at No. 1 on the US singles chart with his song 'Tonight's The Night'. This was the artist's second single to reach the top of the charts.

November 15th 1986 Pop music history was made when all top five singles on the top of the UK charts were all by female vocalists. This included Corinne Drewery, Mel and Kim, Susannah Hoffs, Kim Wilde and Terri Nunn.

November 17th 1996 The Spice Girls reached No. 1 in the UK with their debut release titled 'Spice Girls'. The first single from this album 'Wannabe' hit No. 1 in thirty one countries.

November 19th 1988 Bon Jovi started a two week run at No. 1 on the US singles charts with 'Bad Medicine'. This hit became the group's third US No. 1.

November 21st 1970 Two months after his death, Jimi Hendrix topped the UK singles chart with 'Voodoo Doll (Slight Return)'. This track was the closing track of the Jimi Hendrix Experience's third and final album.

November 23rd 1962 The Beatles travelled to St. James' Church Hall in London for a ten minute audition with BBC Television.

November 25th 1976 The Band performed for the last time on American Thanksgiving Day at Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco. This show also featured Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, and Van Morrison.

November 27th 1961 Neil Christian and The Crusaders featuring a young Jimmy Page on guitar played a concert at a women's prison in London, England. At this concert, the inmates dressed in washed out yellow, green, blue and red faded floral print dresses, also wearing homemade mascara.

November 29th 1997 'Perfect Day' performed by various artists including Elton John, Bono, Tom Jones and David Bowie reached No. 1 on the UK singles chart. This collaboration featured 29 major artists as a fund raiser for the BBC Children In Need charity.
