On This Day....

It's easy to get lost in everything that is happening around us in present day, but sometimes it is fun to take a look back in history and see what was making headlines ten, twenty, even fifty years ago. Join us as we take a quick stroll down memory lane and reminisce about yesteryear and the days gone by. Be sure to let us know if you remember any of these events as they happened!

1965 - Supremes ...

Got started recording their chart topping hit "Stop! In The Name Of Love". The process took three days at Hitsville USA and was released one month later.

1968 - Jimi Hendrix ...

Found himself on the wrong side of the law and was arrested in Stockholm, Sweden on drink related charges. The story goes, that after consuming alcohol, he went on a rampage and caused a ridiculous amount of property damage in his room at the Goteberg Hotel.

1979 - Prince ...

Made his live debut at the Capri Theatre, Minneapolis. While some big executives were in the crowd, it was suggested he spend more time developing his music!

1980 - David Bowie ...

Appeared on Saturday Night Live and performed "The Man Who Sold The World" and "Boys Keep Swinging". He was in good company with Blondie's Jimmy Destri supporting him on keyboards and Klaus Nomi and Joey Arias supplying backing vocals!

1991 - Iron Maiden ...

Topped the UK singles chart with 'Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter.' This is the only UK number-one single for the band to date! The song also topped the Finnish Singles Chart and reached number six in Ireland.

1998 - Sonny Bono ...

Was killed in a skiing accident near Lake Tahoe at age 62. He was half of the dynamic duo Sonny and Cher and later became a US Congressman. The United States Sonny Bono Copyright Term Extension Act of 1998, was named in honor of Bono, nine months after he passed. This act extended the term of copyright by 20 years.

2015 - Taylor Swift ...

Soared to No.1 on the US Album Chart with the release of her 5th studio album '1989'. The album was the best selling record of 2014 in the USA with over 5.5 million copies sold.

2022 - Nicole4080 ...
