Let's Celebrate Rocktober!

Once upon a time the month of October was affectionately coined "Rocktober" before we expanded it to include Rockin' and Shockin' events. Today we're going to focus on some tidbits from the history of Rock N' Roll! There are so many fascinating facts that may leave you shocked! Let's get started!

Chuck Berry Started It All...

Berry is often referred to as the “Father of Rock and Roll” due to his contribution to developing RnB into Rock and Roll. He created clever lyrics and mashed them together with guitar sounds that are notorious in the rock genre. He played an intregal role in drawing new crowds to the RnB genre which eventually led to hard core rock music fans!

Ahoy! Rock N Roll!

Did you know that before Rock N Roll was a genre of music it had various other meanings? The term Roll was used to refer to encounters of the sexual nature and the term Rock was used in reference of shaking something or someone. The phrase in its entirety referred to a ship’s movement while at sea.

Queen's Fans Made History

One of Britians most famous rock bands also has the claim to fame for having the longest running fan club! Queen's Official Fan Club was launched in 1973 and has had more than 20,000 members at one time! This is not surprise though, who doesn't love Queen?!

Stevie Nicks Is A Legend

Stevie Knicks is widely known from the hit band Fleetwood Mac and later for her inspiring solo career. One of the most interesting facts about her is that she is the only female rock artist to have been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. Not just once - but twice! How's that for making rock music history!

Devil Horns' Salute

Did you know the infamous rock symbol had a name? The Devil Horns Salute is known around the world as representing the Rock genre. There is a debate about the origin but the main two contributions are Gene Simmons and Ronnie James Dio. Critics go back and forth but when researching, Dio's grandmother is credited in introducing the sign to the rocker early in his youth. SImmons tried to trademark the symbol in 2017 but later withdrew the claim.
