A song that only the most avid ELO fan is going to know. Never a single, this is the opening track from the band's 1976 album A New World Record. It stems from the days when the band's music was a little heavier and the strings more prevalent. It features a long intro and a long outro and is a fan favourite at their live gigs.

I covered this song today because it comes on the back of the sad news that Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) frontman Jeff Lynne (above) has cancelled what had been billed as his final ever performance, owing to ill health. Lynne was due to appear at the BST Hyde Park festival series in London on Sunday night (13th July 2025), closing what had been the band’s farewell “Over and Out” tour, 55 years since the band formed. Lynne had previously described the Hyde Park gig as a fitting way to end his career. The decision comes days after the 77-year-old axed a concert in Manchester (UK) shortly before he was scheduled to come out on stage.
