<p><img src="https://singsnap-cdn.nyc3.digitaloceanspaces.com/message-board/threads/E2KY/f01d90119a_DXJD_media.png"></p><p><br></p><p><strong>"Candy Kisses"</strong> is a 1949 song written and recorded by American country crooner George Morgan. It was his debut release on the charts and was his only #1 on the Best Selling Folk charts, where it stayed for three weeks. Several other versions of the song were released in 1949, such as Cowboy Copas, Red Foley, Elton Britt, Johnny Mercer, Danny Kaye and the Fontane Sisters. George Morgan's was the only one to be positioned at #1 on the Billboard top 40 country hits back in 1949.</p><p> </p><p>Later cover versions include Billy Haley & His Comets (1960), Dean Martin (1963), Billy Fury (1977), Jerry Lee Lewis (1984) and George’s daughter, Lorrie Morgan (1998).</p><p> </p><p>My recording is based on Dean Martin’s 1963 version of the song, from his album <em>Dean "Tex" Martin Rides Again</em>, which featured his covers of well-known classic country songs in “countrypolitan” style.
