The instrumentation was evocative of traditional klezmer music. "Dance Me to the End of Love" became Cohen's standard concert opener for the remainder of his career. On the surface, the song seems like a love song, but it's actually about the Nazis playing classical music as they marched Jews into the gas chambers.</p><p><br></p><p>The Civil Wars (John Paul White &amp; Joy Williams) included their version of the song in their "Live at Eddie's Attic" released on June 30, 2009.</p><p><br></p><p><img src="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/bf/The_Civil_Wars.jpg" alt="The Civil Wars - Wikipedia"></p><p><br></p><p>I found someone who enjoys singing The Civil Wars songs as much as I do. --Gail-- has a special vocal appeal which makes her covers of Joy Williams music a master class.
