Although it has lyrics, it is generally played as an instrumental in a bluegrass setting. It was written by Fred Rose and was first recorded and released by Roy Acuff and His Smoky Mountain Boys in 1942. It has since been covered by many country and bluegrass artists over the years. My recording is based on Australian country and easy listening artist Frank Ifield’s version, released in 1967.
