The song was written by Bill and Gloria Gaither, a husband-and-wife duo who have composed over 700 Christian songs together.</p><p> </p><p>The story behind the hymn begins in the late 1960s when Gloria Gaither was pregnant with their third child. At the time, the couple was facing many challenges in their personal and professional lives, and Gloria was especially worried about bringing a child into such an uncertain world where drug culture was in full swing, the cities were seething with racial tension, and the God-is-dead pronouncement had penetrated all through the educational system. Despite their fears, the couple held onto their faith and trusted that God would guide them through whatever trials they might face.</p><p> </p><p>It was during this time of uncertainty that Bill Gaither wrote the lyrics to the hymn to reflect the couple's deep belief in the power of God to overcome any obstacle and bring hope to those who put their trust in Him.</p><p> </p><p>Over the years, <strong>"Because He Lives"</strong> has continued to inspire and uplift people in times of joy and sorrow.
