I had a blast with this one. I grew up with The Wizard Of Oz from 1939!

Dorothy lives in Kansas on the farm of her Aunt Em and Uncle Henry and the home is swept away in a massive cyclone tornado and spins inside the eye of the storm before crashing down into the colorful Land of Oz. The film goes from black and white to colour.

When Dorothy steps outside, she meets Glinda the Good Witch and the Munchkins. They discover that the house has crushed the Wicked Witch of the East, leaving only her striped stockings and ruby slippers.

The Wicked Witch of the West seeks revenge against Dorothy for the death of her sister (the Wicked Witch of the East) and to reclaim the powerful ruby slippers

In the story, the yellow brick road starts in Munchkin land. Dorothy must follow it to reach the Emerald City. Along the way, she meets the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion. The road represents a journey toward hope and truth. The wicked witch of the west tracks her every move and causes trouble for the group on their journey.

Near the end of the story, Dorothy and her friends are captured and brought to the Witch's castle. When the Witch sets fire to the Scarecrow's arm, Dorothy throws a bucket of water to put out the flames. Some of the water accidentally splashes directly onto the Witch. She immediately begins to shrink and dissolve, screaming "Oh, look at that! I'm melting! Melting! Oh, what a world, what a world!" until nothing is left but her black hat and cloak.

At the end of the film, Glinda, the good witch reveals that Dorothy could have returned to Kansas the entire time simply by clicking the heels of her ruby slippers three times and repeating, "There's no place like home."

Appreciating home: Dorothy's journey along the yellow brick road helped her realize that her safety and happiness were back in Kansas with Aunt Em, rather than searching for her desires over the rainbow.

The Scarecrow's point: When the Scarecrow asks why Glinda didn't tell her right away, Glinda replies that Dorothy wouldn't have believed her and had to experience the journey to understand its value.
