And then as I stood up to walk into "my studio", I remembered this song and said, yes, this is exactly the tone. I tried several takes with the original arrangement and was trying very hard, but I couldn't get the breathwork phrasing right. But then the thought occurred to me to find a slower arrangement. The good news is, even though the title says slow, it's really only a little slower than the original. The tempo is still quite upbeat and not nearly as moody as I expected. This arrangement also gave me freedom to play with how I wanted to sing the song and I'm quite happy with the end result. This is a song that my Mom likes to ask me to sing anytime we go out for a karaoke night, so I'm sure I've sung this hundreds of times over the years. But this one gets to be its own special little snowflake and I like that.</p><p><br></p><p>And it will make at least 1 person smile, so it's worth it. Everything else is gravy.</p>
