<h5>BEST FRIENDS SUMMER CONTEST 2025</h5><h5><br></h5><h5>ROUND TWO</h5><h5><br></h5><h5>THEME: A SONG THAT REMINDS YOU OF YOUR CHILDHOOD/TEENAGE YEARS WITH FAMILY</h5><p><br></p><p><img src="https://singsnap-cdn.nyc3.digitaloceanspaces.com/message-board/threads/F2HN/484e6c8d1d_V1G7_media.jpg?w=700"></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>BOB WILLS was born March 6, 1905 and died May 13, 1975.&nbsp;He was an American bandleader, fiddler, singer, and songwriter whose&nbsp;Texas Playboys popularized&nbsp;Western Swing Music in the 1930s and ’40s.&nbsp;Wills became the King of Western Swing, an up-tempo country&nbsp;jazz, that drew on&nbsp;dixiland, big band,&nbsp;pop,&nbsp;blues.</p><p><br></p><p>Country music was very popular in The Maritime Provinces of Canada back in the day... (and still is)</p><p><span style="color: rgba(38, 38, 40, 0.9);">This song brings back great family memories: </span>"Rose of San Antone" was one of mom's favorites from this group, and we sang it many times ( I am thinking perhaps 1948). Grandad on the fiddle, uncle Hector on dobro guitar and mom on the accordion ... me, strumming my guitar (I was taught to play when I was 6.. the guitar was bigger than I was🤣), and me singing harmony to mom's beautiful melody.
