It was first recorded by and released in January 1976 as the first single and title track from the album&nbsp;</span><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%27Til_I_Can_Make_It_on_My_Own_(album)" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" style="color: rgb(32, 33, 34);"><em>'Til I Can Make It on My Own</em></a><span style="color: rgb(32, 33, 34);">. The song was Wynette's fifteenth number one on the country charts. The single stayed at number one for one week and spent a total of eleven weeks on the country charts.
