My son Callum was born 14 years ago and the doctors didnt listen when we said something was wrong ...
They eventually were running down the hall to ICU with a blue baby ... Its scary and you never forget it ..
The first 6 months ICU ward became our home ... you wouldnt know it now ... He is the one who is always into any scrapes or mishaps he can find . Cant hold him down :)
Tears streaming down my face here but smiling that they made it .... :)

Well, I can't say I really heard the song; I was too wrapped up in reading your message and then looking at your adorable daughter. She looks so much like you. I'm so glad that story has a happy ending.

Seven years ago, next month, I gave birth to my daughter Shannon by Caesarian section, 3 weeks early.

I am diabetic. The midwife should have taken her bloods straight away, as babies of diabetics immediately lose sugar when they are born, because they take the sugar from their mother, and lose that in birth.
For some reason she forgot, and took her off to be bathed while I got stitched up. Over an hour later she brought a screaming baby into me, and the doctor asked if bloods had been taken, which then were.
She was at 0.07 and was having a hypo attack. The doctor bellowed at the emergency crew to get the baby to SCUBU straight away. I couldn't even sit up, let alone get there with her, although first thing next morning I was wheeling my IV drip down the corridors to get to her. I spent the next 5 days ducking and diving out of the nurses' way so that they didn't send me home, which I knew they would if they caught me, because I wanted to spend every minute with her..all taped up to wires and machines and blood being taken every couple of hours.
Eventually they pinned me down, and I had to go home, leaving her in there for another couple of days with me travelling back and forwards to see her instead.
As the song says, you wouldn't think it to see her now :)
