Recording information by AussieIndyPATRON

This song was about the terrible hardships of the Welsh coal miners ... my ancesters.

It is better for underground miners today, but still a terrible occupation.

I dedicate this to all those poor souls, past, present and future who have to toil underground in all mines.

Partly for the feature, but also for the miners

Thank you soooo much for that!

you young ladies are singers. I am a truck driver who makes a bit of noise every now and then, so I will leave the harmonising up to you pair/either/or! :-)

Thank you again! :-)

It sounds like you knew the song just fine. Never heard this song. A beautiful dedication. sad. You sang it so well, though.

Now I really AM embarrassed because so many of you people have voices so superior to mine that it just isn't funny.

Nah! The second verse was completely different and, boy, did I stumble!

Her father was a coal miner and I think she wrote it as if she were he. Not sure I have the facts right, however ... but I think that's how it goes!

I believe that many think it is a Canadian song, but I always thought it was written about the miners of Cornwall and Wales.

Thank you for all your sonderful and supportive comments!

Thank you Judy. I am not sure if Rita McNeil was Welsh ... with a name like that I would have thought her Irish! I have watched a video of her doing it on Youtube and it is gorgeous.

I appreciate your comment.

Awwwwwwwwwwww Jessi. You are wayyyy too kind! Hard NOT to dedicate something like this, when you know what it was like down in those mines.

I have worked in similar danger and health risk (and am paying the price today) so I have real empathy.

Thank you, sweet lady, for your words.
