Alanis wrote a song about irony
It had simple lines that were easy to sing
I guess that she had too much Chardonnay
Cos theres not one ironic thing in the words she did say

Isnt it ironic
No its not

Its like rain on your wedding day
A free ride when youve already paid
Are good examples of really really bad luck
Im sorry its not ironic

The song came out and everyone thought it was neat
Real informative without trying to preach
But then some Irish wag called Ed Byrne
Told everyone she had a lesson to learn

He said, its not ironic
It really isnt

So she said it was all on purpose
That she knew what she was saying and the clever bit was that the song ironically wasnt ironic

But nobody believed her, they though she was stupid and probably completely insane and couldnt write a decent song if she tried

A no smoking sign on your cigarette break
My god theyre everywhere now and for non-smokers thats great
Ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife
Who the hell has 10 thousand spoons thats the worst line Ive heard in my life

Its really not ironic
Dont you think
