I love this song and glad you've brought it my computer tonight.
Hearing the harmonica, it reminds me that long long ago I had a theory that Dylan painted because Joni Mitchell painted. In that art show, Joni sweeps the blue ribbons.

I must say, I just adore the image of you in the studio working the board. You are my idol.
Would it offend you if I observed that you sound a little like Sheryl Crow here? It's a compliment my friend.
Excellent version, haven't heard this one in years. I think you and Danny should do a cover of it for your next EP. Just sayin'

Very nice, Jewelya, Joni ifsa fav of mine. Her songs seem to always have a different key structure that makes her songs so unique. You handled this very well. Hmm, radio star too. I'm definitely impressed. All stars to you. Ray

You know,,,you've either been taking lessons or Singsnap has unearthed a quality in your singing that Sims hid somewhat. I kid you not MsTake,,,you sound mucho better here,,,now, don't get all uppity and say "well, he thought I sucked over there",,,no, not the case,,,you seem to have morphed in your stylings from a pretty moth to a beautiful butterfly. Both can fly, but one paints the sky when they do.....

You guys are all very kind to my little one off.
Ken-Funny how you're afraid to compliment me. Maybe my friends here are right; I can be a bit, um, "difficult" at times. It was hard for me to climb to Joni's Soprano Heights but I just let go of expectations. Well, as much as I could. That seems to be my secret to happiness lately. But that Last note? Yikes. I think I'm gonna remix the voice lower while I type. Love that Snap fidelity: sometimes it sounds just like the inside of my head. But that mic in the picture, now THAT one makes me sound like one of those late night FM Jazz DJs. YEAH! TY Bat.
Danny- I like Jeff's idea, but I'm afraid my vocals would pail too much in comparison. However, if I could play the bongos that might make it worth my while. (I actually got my Guica out for one take but it was too hard. :)
Thanks Singer for kind words.
Yes, Ray, nothing easy about Joni recoreds, except for easy on the ears.
Thanks Dave for "cute" and your wonderful support of so many here. :)
Jacqs - Although I once did paying radio work, now it's just a weekly jazz, world music and electronica show I program and host. I'm actually off the air now but hope to be back on this summer when I have more time for planning... :) Thanks for asking.

A little update on Joni.
She's mostly a painter now. She went to art school in her 20s and right after graduating she found herself pregnant by her ex-boyfriend. She gave the baby up for adoption. Big secret for most of her career. When her baby was full grown she went looking for her mom and found Joni and they were reunited. :)
This album came out between Blue (GORGEOUS! BUY & EXPERIENCE NOW!) and Court and Spark. Now C&S was the one where she proved she could pen radio-friendly hits, a couple of which they have here I think.

Hmmm, I thought I was being complimentary,,,maybe you expect not to be,,,,so when you are, you don't see it? I THING THIS IS PRETTY LIKE A BUTTERFLY....DAMMIT ALL TO HELL.

I'm sorry I'm not good at taking compliments Ken. Please forgive.
I was just being funny in my reply anyway. The truth your feedback above is one of the sweetest compliments I've gotten around here. Even better because it came from you and was so sincere. Thank you thank you thank you. Even more of a compliment that you came back to hear it again (remixed with less me and more music).
PMing Ya NOW with my tail between my legs. Dammit all to hell. (I been having some probs with my tone around this place lately. I should just shut up mostly i think. Eek!)

All is forgiven,,,lol, anyhow, I wasn't angry, I'm MAD, but not angry mad, like the mad hatter I think. I do like this and I do think you have morphed a lot here in the former dark place. The sound quality is better, and you seem to care more, maybe it's my imagination but I hear something I didn't before. Wasn't chastising you at all, figured you might have misread me, because you have a whole class of attentive students here to guide down that musical primrose lane we all saunter through. They are all clamoring for your attention, but I've found that the less you clamor for attention, sometimes, the more you get. Strange huh?

I don't think I've heard this one. I don't know how that happened, but I'm glad it's not the case anymore. Thanks for expanding my horizons.
The painting comments reminded me of something I heard Tony Bennett say...Duke Ellington told him years ago to maintain a second art form beyond music. (had to look it up to avoid misquote) "It became a way of life for me because if I sang too much, I'd kind of get burnt out from traveling on the road. So I would go over to painting and there would be a lift - a nice, fresh start," Bennett said. "That balance, it's kept me in a creative zone my whole life.''
Amen!

Joni Mitchell - One of the few great popular singer-songwriters from the late 20th century who have joined the canon of the American Songbook. Yep, true. You wouldn't believe who's recording her stuff.
Not THIS song tho. She wrote this when her record label told her to come up with a radio-friendly hit.
