Chasing Cars

A song may be irrelevant to some people - and yet, it is actually a vital part of an experience to others. It tells a story - more like a living witness to a particular circumstance - though it expresses the mere words of the sensation blended by the melody, it somehow brings another revelation to a unique listener.

What has cars got to do with life's experience? I, for one, neglected to even investigate on the message being imparted by this song. Let me tell you a story.

Jan Kris (known here in SingSnap as "krislane"), my online friend, has requested this song to me a few months back. I confess, this song is new to me... and just seeing the title "Chasing Cars" - I already lost interest. I am romantic by heart - and I didn't see anything romantic with the title... so I postponed and postponed... until I almost forgot that this has been requested to be sung by me - BY A FRIEND.

Just yesterday, I was chatting with him... completely forgotten everything about this song... when he suddenly revealed a story that not only shocked me to tears - it made me gain respect to a friend whom I thought was just a kid - immature, childish and insensitive.

I WAS WRONG!

I was thinking I was just talking to a man - of lesser age than I am... lacking with experience, intellect and maturity... but after his story, I felt like a child - looking up to a greater person - with a greater perspective in love and in life. I was actually talking to a person who's capable of seeing positively beyond all the negativities... capable of giving... of sharing... of loving... BEYOND ALL REASONS!

After I've seen him in a different light, it inspired me to LISTEN TO THEIR STORY AGAIN - by listening to this song... and I am in tears, listening to this song over and over... learning the voices... creating the harmonies... and now, after 4 recordings - I am finally through... this is the best I could do for a friend... a VERY GOOD FRIEND.
