I would hazard a guess and suggest that people who go to gigs might be giggers. A a gig can be anything..... a musical gig, an event organised for a few or many or another kind of spectacle that may draw people to it. So, using that suggestion one could imagine that that particular snapper is someone that may like to go Cephalopod watching! Obviously, he would need more than an anorak! :)
