What A Wonderful World was written by Robert Thiele (under the pseudonym, George Douglas) and George David Weiss and was originally performed in 1968 by Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong. The promotion exec for the ABC record label didn't promote this song in the US and the initial release only sold about 1000 copies. The song was promoted in the UK where it went to #1. More albums were subsequently sold in the US. This song was first promoted as a single and became a worldwide hit when it was featured in the film Good Morning Vietman.
A Wonderful World is an album of duets by Tony Bennett and k.d. lang, released in 2002. It won the Grammy Award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. In the United States, the album achieved gold record status while also reaching the top 40 in UK.
