This sounds great with a male voice! What an "unexpected" surprise ;) You are always spot on with your vocals, and I loved the video, it really added to your performance. Wonderful job, Howard!

Give My Regards To Broadway Seasons 2
Round 6 - Gender Bender
Song: Second Letter Home / Unexpected Song
Show: Song and Dance by Andrew Lloyd Weber, Don Black and Richard Maltby, Jr.
Nope - Not American Pie but rather Second Letter Home / Unexpected Song from the show Song & Dance. If you find this song appealing you owe it to yourself to hear Bernadette Peters sing this on YouTube.
* Show Trivia
Song and Dance is a musical entertainment comprising two acts, one told entirely in "Song" and one entirely in "Dance", tied together by a love story.
The first act is Tell Me On A Sunday, with lyrics by Don Black and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, about a young British woman's romantic misadventures in New York City and Hollywood. A one-woman tour-de-force written specifically for Marti Webb, had it's world premiere on March 26, 1982.
The Broadway production was adapted by Richard Maltby, Jr., opening on September 18, 1985. This production starred Bernadette Peters, who played the role of Emma for 13 months. The show received eight Tony Award nominations, with Ms. Peters winning as Best Actress in a Musical.
Unexpected Song was newly added in the Broadway production and is still performed by Bernadette Peters in concerts around the world as one of her signature songs.
Lyric Sheet
Second Letter…
Mum, I know you'll think I'm potty
But this time, I've really found her
Jane is what they call midwestern
How to tell you what that means?
Her idea of an evening
Is a picnic on the carpet
I bring home fried chicken
And a bottle of chablis
She takes Yoga and Pilates
But at home she likes relaxing
And as we talk she runs her
Fingertips all over ...
Unexpected Song...
