Oh, I love your recording!! I love the history too!! Isn't fun to meet or see celebrities-especially when you don't recognize them until later??? Sometimes they look really different in "real-life" than they do on TV. Karen

In 1978, The Carpenters issued their Christmas Portrait album, which contained a new recording of "Merry Christmas Darling". However, the two releases of the single were the original 1970 mix, and none of the singles had the newer 1978 mix. During Christmas, the latter mix is usually played.
(note: I use to only live on town away from where the Carpenter Lived..and when I was a lifeguard at the Downey YMCA...I once was singing a Carpenters Song.. (a few year after her death). But who should tapp me on the shoulder..and said..you gave me such a fright ...I thought I was hearing my sister voice....and I knew it wasn't on the radio. I turned to see who it was...at first I did not reconize him..and went on with my Lifeguard duties. Then it hit me...as he was walking way to the showers. It was Richard himself. I was touched. (I was only 17yrs old at the time) Don't sound like her anymore...shame I wish I did again.
