Hey! This wasn't half bad. Especially the Howard half, this was really especially good!

He's real good. I think I expressed the point that if picking band people, I'd choose you before Stevie.

So what's with the quotes around friend?

The quotes around "Friend" are actually grammatically correct! I guess the grammatically correct Paul Simon would say, "You can call me 'Al.' "

I listened to this one earlier and then the Dan, coming back to say "well done". Grammatically correct isn't my strong suit but when it comes to quotes, I try very hard to avoid the "making quotes" with my hands when in conversation. That can be quite annoying at times when it's overused.
Yeah, I like Stevie alot but I think Dan would have more song options with you fronting.

That interpretation of the phrase is punctuated correctly. Maybe it's too many Westerns and Gangster movies and the pervasiveness of ironic air quotes that makes me look twice at the title.

I may have to revise that, though. I just remembered that the first line of Moby Dick is "Call me Ishmael." Just like that; no extra quotation marks. So it would be "You can call me Al." I wonder whether it's because Al and Ishmael are proper names, and friend is not a proper noun. Of if it's because the phrase "Whenever I call you friend" is ambiguous, and quotation marks clarify the meaning.

You can call me, Al. Call me, Ishmael.

Venice: And thanks for both the grammar lesson and for the great recording. You did a wonderful job with your half of this great song. I'll be adding a link here from my original recording page. Thanks so much for joining me on this duet. Oh, and I love teh Lovin' Spoonful song on your profile page too. Haven't heard that one in decades.

Hi Venice. Thinking about doing this with Jeff to cheer him up. He lost his dog. Bummer. :( But you're sounding great and that dude you're with, he can belt. So... Cool. Thanks for showing me the way, girlfriend.

Just so you don't think I blow a ton of smoke, maybe "great" wasn't the best choice of words. I have heard you sing better, but still... Duets are a lovely thing that should not be over taked took, you know what I mean. Going out on a limb here, so please don't take this the wrong way. :) 5 were still selected and submitted. Vibing ya but good.
