Wow...this sure takes me back! I saw ole Hank at our NCO club at our military base in Germany, way back in the hills! Hank was pretty old back then, but still making the rounds. He gave a rather tired performance that night.
I went behind the curtain afterwards, and was the only one back there with him in that small area, while he was putting his stuff away. I remember he looked so old and stooped, wearing suspenders.
He looked up at me, said, "What do ya need friend?" I asked him for his autograph. I was 18. He was at the end of his career. He looked around for a pen, then signed a beer coaster for me. I still have it. I said, "I have your albums, and I sure like your singing." He said, "That's good. Real good. Thank you."
You did a fantastic job singing this old hit of his! You sound like him. Thanks for the great job and for the memories.
