whistlingdee's real name is Elmer Turnbow. Elmer is 68 years old, is located in Indiana / USA and has been a SingSnap member since December 16, 2006.

I'm just an old timer trying to have a little fun with music and others that share the same interest. I am new to Karaoke and have a lot to learn yet but I have been around music all my life and have some good talent in my family. I am just trying to pick up some of what they lost...

Here lately I have started getting a lot of feedback from members not only here but from other places and it is beginning to get a little on the confusing side for someone like me with limited computer savvy:( so for those that may have left feedback for me and got no responses in return please don't think that I did not appreciate your time and comments. It's just that I will answer someone's feedback and next thing I know the feedback notice is there again so I get lost on who I have or have not answered. Please do not think that I have just intentionally ignored you because I have not. I have also had a couple e-mail me and ask if they could do a duet with me and although I feel that is very nice of them to do so the way I see it, we are all here to have fun and sort of get to know each other as friend in music and if you feel that you would like to do a duet with me by all means jump in and, LOL, GET ER DONE!!! if you should than let me know so I can hear it to:) If you like my music, tell your friends but if you don't, tell me:) I don't know what good it will do but than you never can tell, maybe if you will tell me what you don't like I may be able to correct it. Keep in mind when I sing a song that I am not trying to copy the original artist at all because they have already made their $$$$ and no matter how hard a person try's to copy another we are all only one person with our on sound and once you come to grips that you are a special individual with your on sound, you will like yourself much better and I can guarantee you just like it is hard for you to sound just like someone else put the shoes on the other foot and it will be just as hard for them to sound just like you. I had one person to e-mail me and say that someone had made hateful remarks about them and their music because they were from another country and did not pronounce their words right and all I can say about that is we sometimes have to consider the source and at least they could talk two different languages. To me music is the one language that is International and the whole world understands even if you may not understand the words. Music on band stands all over the world for the most part the band will be playing in what is called a standard pitch or 440 pitch and should you get on their band stand and they ask what key you want and you say "A" than you will be able to do your song with no problem if that it the key you use. If you climb up on someone band stand and they are not in standard pitch or 440 pitch and they ask what key you want and you say "A" and start to sing you may find yourself in a world of hurt because you are not going to be in the key of "A" I know that most of you know this but this information is for the ones who do not know and don't know why sometimes they can hit a note and other times they can't if they are used to singing a song in a certain key. For all of the music instructors and students that are in music :) this is not meant for you at all. There is not a thing that I can tell you that you don't already know and as for me I have never had a lesson in music in my life. I wanted to learn to play the piano because I have two sisters that can play very well but in order for me to learn the piano from a school I have to learn how to read music and to me they might as well tell me to read Greek:( with my thick scull. One thing a lot of people don't understand though and that is people were singing and playing instruments a way before there was written music, so although I wished that I knew how to read and write music I don't but I do know when I hear music and I also know that if you play for a living the listener is just as important as the musician for without the listener see how much you will make playing the music. When you look at it this way you will understand that it takes us all to really enjoy music no matter what language as it all goes hand n hand. Just my 2 cents worth:)
If you are reading this I just want to let you know that for the past few weeks I have not been able to do much here on SingSnap due to health problems and I just wanted to let all that have left me feedback know that I do appreciate it and I am sorry I have not been able to get back to you. I am going back into the hospital this morning and maybe they can take care of my problem and I can get back to normal what ever that is.

Hi All:)
This message is for all that has taken the time to say a prayer for me in my time of need. I am a firm believer in prayer and feel that all yours as well as others from across the country has made it possible for me to get through this surgery so fast with all going very well. So far all I have heard is positive results on my surgery and I am told that my recovery is also going better than expected so I am very thankful for that. I have not been on the computer much since my surgery but hope to get back soon. I did want to let you know that I have not forgot those that took the time to wish me well and say a prayer for me and I figured this was one of the best ways to tell you. If you are one of them just know that I really do appreciate it and if you know someone that has not been thanked please send them to my profile so they will know that I do care. There has been several hundred and I can only hope that each person knows that I do care and appreciate all their support even if I am slow in showing it.
Thanks again and I hope the very best for you and your loved ones through out this Christmas season.

UP-DATE 2/26/2008 :)
Just an update to let all my friends here at SingSnap know that because of all your help & prayers I am in much better condition now. I still have some soreness in my chest where the main incision was made but other than that I am healed up as for as the good Lord is going to let me? For those that have sent me get well wishes and did not get a reply I just wanted to let you know that if I missed you I am still grateful that you took the time to wish me better. It’s not that I didn’t care but rather the fact as soon as I tried to thank one several more came in and it went this way for several months but again to each of you Thanks again… ~~Dee
