What the holidays are really all about!

On a song I recorded I was kidding around about how crazy busy it can be at the grocery store just before a holiday and Werewoof (aka Mark) posted the story below in his comments. WOW...soooo COOL!!! I was really impressed!

"It was the year that the big cabbage patch doll frenzy was going on. About a week before xmas, my mom had asked me to go the the local k-mart with her to do some last minute shopping. While there, they announced over the p.a. that they had just received a shipment of cabbage patch dolls and would be handing them out at the rear of the store by the door to the stockroom. I wasn't really paying that much attention, but I eventually found myself in that vicinity. The commotion was incredible! there must have been at least a hundred people all clamoring for these dolls as the manager finally gave up on any sort of orderly dispersion of them and just started tossing them out into the crowd and letting the law of the jungle take care of who got them.

I noticed a little old lady standing off to the side with a very perplexed look on her face. Something made me walk over and ask her if there was anything wrong. ( not the sort of thing that I'd normally do at that age) She told me that she really wanted one of those dolls to give to her grand daughter, but was terrified that she'd get trampled if she ventured into that crowd.

I told her, "Don't worry about it, I'll take care of you."

I waded into that mosh pit. secured one of the dolls and waded out (thank goodness I'm a big, solid guy). Handed her the doll and even escorted her up to the cash register... I felt like Robin Hood! LOL"

That was awesome Mark!!! Thank you so much for sharing your story! I love to hear about people doing nice things for others....is not enough of that these days it seems. We all get caught up in the hustle and bustle of things at times and this is a good lesson to us all to stop and do something nice for someone else. I am sure that woman was so impressed and happy that you helped! You were her knight in shining armor!!
