UPDATED AUGUST 28TH
Our Dear Friends,
My surgery for colon cancer was completed on April 30th 2009. It was a success although it was much longer and complicated than first thought because the cancer had attached itself to my pelvis which was causing the terrible pain that I had attributed to my spine disease. Originally told the surgery would be three hours it ran into nine.
Recovery was very difficult but made much better by my wife Linda who is my angel and soulmate.
This weekend I am taking the third of what will be six treatments of followup chemotherapy every two weekends. I sit in an infusion chair for two hours and then wear a portable pump home for two days. This process is going well and I am in very good hands. I have a 90% chance of no re-occurance. Linda and I praise God for this and we thank you for all of your prayers, thoughts and well-wishes and friendship

My Dear Friends,
I am now four treatments away from being finished with my radiation treatments and two more weeks of chemo-therapy for this round. A colonoscopy will then be scheduled to see if I need surgery and once a stress test proves my heart ok for surgery that will likely take place.
I will likely need another round of chemo-therapy for a follow-up. I have tolerated these treatments very well for which we thank God and give him the praise.
Just wanted to update my profile and let everyone know what is happening and how we are doing. Thank you for your prayers and concern. God bless.

To all of my wonderful SingSnap Friends:
Let me begin by saying that Linda (Ypsilass) and I were just married and we are very very happy. She is the love of my life and my soulmate and is my dream come true. I met her on singsnap in June when neither of us was looking for a mate. She clicked on a song of mine and I reciprocated and was captivated by this beautiful woman with a marvelous voice. God has brought us together, another example of his love and ministry at this site. I am very thankful for Linda and am very honored to be her husband. We plan to spend the rest of our lives cherishing each other.
I am a hopeless romantic. The late Waylon Jennings and his wife Jessi Colter had a classic romance and love story. This is very evident from some of their interviews and their performances together, particularly those after he became sick. Jessi Colter, along with Kenny Rogers, co-wrote the song "Sweet Music Man" to her husband whom she loved so much. It has since been recorded by Rogers and by Reba McEntyre and possibly others. My page name is my way of honoring Jessi Colter and her late husband, the real "Sweet Music Man.".
Let me please also say that I have many wonderful friends here including many ladies. These are cherished friendships ONLY and are not romances. Please do not be offended or hurt by my being so open in expressing a genuine friendly affection for my female friends. They are my sisters and my buddies only.
I wish that I had beautiful and eye-catching graphics here and hyper-links to so many of your wonderful recordings. I hope to do that one day soon and until then I thank you for your patience with my profile and it’s organization, or lack of it. LOL
The longer that I am at this website, which has just been since November, the more amazed I am and in awe of just what a wonderful place SingSnap is. More than just a place to sing and make friends, which are blessings in themselves, this is a place that is honored and blessed by our Creator, and our Lord Jesus.
Nothing more bears that out than the prayers for our Dear SingSnap friend, MsRandee who a few months ago was guided, and her surgeons and doctors were guided through critical and life-threatening surgery, by The Great Physician, our Heavenly Father, and we have already been blessed with her return home and to SingSnap. She has since went through other difficult surgery and is doing well. We give God all the honor, praise and glory for this. She is a living, breathing (something she couldn’t before) miracle and I am sure that she is not the only one here or the only one in need of such a miracle.
In the last few months I have learned so much more about friendship, love, life, faith and grace than I could ever possibly express to you, through the music that we all love so much. I don’t believe that I found this site by accident, nor did you. I think that it is a place that is blessed and honored with everyone here in some way.
I recently rediscovered my faith in God one day while praying with many of you here, and was nowhere near a church when it happened. Again evidence of a place of honor that this site has with our Lord. I so appreciate all of your wonderful comments and your appreciation for my music here. Whatever talents I display are nothing good about me but what God has given me and what I allow him to do through me. I am not perfect but far from it. I hope that I will always be found trying to bless the Lord here and to bless, honor and entertain you.
Some do not practice Christianity and some are not of any religion. You are my special guests and friends as I enjoy your music, friendship, humor and your kindness and comraderie.
Let me preface the rest of what I want to say by first telling you that your sympathy or pity is not welcome or wanted by me. Your friendship, love, kindness, prayers and well-wishes are very much needed and appreciated.
I’m permanently disabled, as many of you are and to one degree or another. I walk with the aid of two canes as my legs are infirmed because of severe disc problems in my back. In the last four years I have survived the loss of both eyes and the restoration of sight in one, severe pancreatitus, kidney failure, lung issues, diabetes atrial fibrilation and obesity, now having lost 75 lbs in less than three years, (89 more to go) and all because of the Grace, Mercy, and Love of our Heavenly Father and our Lord Jesus Christ.
My Dear friends, I wish it were possible to tell each and every one of you just how much you mean to me and how much you help me each day of my life. Thank you all so very very much for all that you do here for me in many different ways. I love you all so very much. God bless each and everyone one of you.

Two more of my passions besides music, poetry and the legacy of "Walking Tall" Sheriff Buford Pusser, are combined in this original poem about his fatal auto crash on August 21st, 1974. It is on display on the piano in the living room of the Buford Pusser Home and Museum, located in Adamsville, Tenn. which is open to the public year round. Sheriff Pusser's daughter, Dwana Pusser-Garrison, Museum Curator Renee' Moss and I warmly invite you to visit there.
The Day Buford Died
On a lonely Tennessee highway
It's been more than thirty years
Since we lost our great hero
Bringing us all many tears
Made famous the world over
His legend still grows today
But many people don't realize
The price that he had to pay
He went up against evil itself
Where many others feared to stand
Buford did, too, but he stood anyway
To oust the stateline mob from his land
Shot eight times and stabbed seven more
His pretty young wife taken away
His face shattered, his family destroyed
Still he decided as sheriff he'd stay
Driving home on a jubilant day
His daughter spotted his car ahead
Crashed and on fire by the side of the road
And we knew then that Buford was dead

SPECIAL PRAYER REQUEST:
Please if you will be in prayer for my friend Mrs. Dwana Pusser-Garrison of Tennessee. She has MS and is having to maintain a grueling schedule. Pray also for the Buford Pusser Home and Museum. and the Buford Pusser Foundation as these are works that God has honored in my heart and blessed. Thank you so much!!!!!!!
This poem commemorates the savage and sadistic murder of Emmet Till, A fourteen year old Negro boy, in Money, Mississippi, in 1955. Historical accuracy, about slavery and the Jim Crow South, is yet another passion for me.
Laughter Outside
They took him in the middle of the night
A Northern boy not accustomed to this fright!
Kidnapped by two whites they drove away
Poor Emmett Till's life ended that day.
A sweet gentle boy from Chicago town
Down for the summer, just messing around
Made a mistake, whistling at Bryant's wife
And just for that Emmett lost his life.
In a barn they beat him till nearly dead
And mutilating him, put a gun to his head
His screams could be heard coming from inside
But all you could hear was laughter outside
They tied a gin fan around his neck
Through him in the river, what the heck?
This was OLD MISS in nineteen fifty-five
And not required to keep a black man alive!
They were acquitted and got off scot-free
And then were paid, reveling in their glee!
The poor mama showed the world his pain
And lifted the veil on Jim Crow's dark stain!

Even while in a fog of depression, doubt and fear I was inspired to write this poem about second chances. I hope you have enjoyed my poetry on display here. Thank you for reading my profile.
A Really Nice Guy
A really nice guy passed away one day
No ill will of him could anyone say
Standing tall in life, doing the right thing
So much happiness to his family he did bring
At God's white throne his morality fell short
One thing he'd not done, he should have ort
To trust Christ as his Savior and friend
He'd waited too late, his life at an end.
"I never cheated, or hurt anyone"he screamed
Making a passionate eloquent plea it seemed
God said "you never gave me your heart"
"I don't know you; from here please depart"!
Then he woke up, still alive it would seem
In a cold sweat, he realized it was a dream
Falling to the floor he began to pray
And Jesus saved a really nice guy that day!

The Love of God---Author unknown
The love of God, is greater far
than tongue or pen can ever tell
It goes beyong the highest star
And reaches to the lowest hell
The guilty pair, bowed down with care
God gave his son to win
His erring child he reconciled
And pardoned from his (her) sin.
Could we with ink, the oceans fill
And were the skies of parchment made
Were every stalk on earth a quill
And every man (woman) a scribe by trade
To write the love, of God above
Would drain the oceans dry
Nor could the scroll, contain the whole
Though stretched from sky to sky.
Oh love of God, how rich and pure
How measureless and strong
It shall forever more endure
The saints and angels song.
