One of my favorite song quotes:
"It's better to say too much than never to say what you need to say again."
~ John Mayer/Say What You Need To Say
Hi! My name is Melissa. Music is one of my great passions. I love to sing...and I enjoy dancing, too. I think the best thing about music is that there's always a song out there to express exactly how you're feeling on any given day, at any moment.
I'm here to sing for fun, listen to others, and maybe meet a few new friends along the way. So if you enjoy listening to any of my songs, leave a comment and introduce yourself. I'll be sure to check out your tunes as well. I love to chat, too...so don't be surprised if I send you a message from time to time just to say "Hi", or if I frequently make comments on your songs. It's all in good fun and meant to be a sincere gesture of friendship. Never throw away a good compliment... Happy Singing!
Here are my open duets if someone would like to join me in a song. If you do, please send me the link so I can hear it ;-)
- Whenever I Call You Friend - Stevie Nicks/Kenny Loggins
- Stop Draggin' My Heart Around - Stevie Nicks/Tom Petty
- Leather and Lace - Stevie Nicks/Don Henley
A couple of my favorite songs/performances...
Don't forget to pause this song below if you want to listen to one of the others :-)
Fleetwood Mac..my all-time favorite band(I love their music both before and after Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, and Christine McVie joined). They were awesome with Bob Welch too! Here's the ORIGINAL Fleetwood Mac with Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Jeremy Spencer, and Peter Green singing - "Need Your Love So Bad". Listen to this guitar whine and this man sing in his blues style! Love this...
Stevie Nicks rocks out to "Gold Dust Woman" with Bob Welch, Mick Fleetwood, and Christine McVie. Awesome Live performance here...
Dave Mason singing "We Just Disagree"...
I absolutely adore this song!!!! Dave Mason is a most under-rated talent. A former member of Fleetwood Mac for a very short time, and founder of the band "Traffic" with Steve Winwood. Listen to this beautiful song and musical arrangement...
Allman Brothers singing about me!..lol... "Melissa"
This is an incredible acoustic version of this song. I love these guys...
James Blunt singing "Goodbye My Lover"
This one will make you cry...So emotionally intense.
"Look At Little Sister" by Stevie Ray Vaughan/Jeff Healey
2 incredibly talented guitarists taken way too early in life. (R.I.P.)
A couple of my favorite duets...
"Insider" by Tom Petty/Stevie Nicks.
The story behind this song... Back around '82, Stevie asked Tom if he would write a song for her, to be included in her solo album. He wrote this one, "Insider", and they went into the studio to record it. Tom had originally intended for Stevie to sing melody and he would harmonize, but as they began to sing it, Stevie found herself more comfortable on harmony. After completion of this amazing duet, Tom told Stevie he was sorry, but that he just could not give her this song afterall, (considering he wound up singing melody) and he put it on his album, instead. But in return, Tom gave Stevie a song he wrote but never recorded called "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around", and that went on her album. Hence, the birth of 2 outstanding duets by Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty
Listen to these lyrics...
One of the most passionate performances...
"Help Me Make It Through The Night" Rita Coolidge/Kris Kristofferson
