Seasons Bring Reasons (by Grace Elise White )

Gold flecks shimmer like breaching from your eyes,
Your hands are searching for mine to hold
And I wrap in an embrace so warm its like summer in January.
I've missed you all this time.
My lips carry a tune
A sweet song with your name hanging off every line, off every word, ever letter.
And your smile illuminates the dusk with teeth as brilliant as virgin snow
And lips as soft as velvet on mine.

The grass is my bed as I stare at the sky
A beautiful array of blues and whites
With little tufts of clouds that take the shape of your face.
Where have you been all my life?
I taste the sweet cancer on my tongue.
I puff the cigarette and put it out.
I've got to stay alive for you.

The rain is drowning my ability to feel
As I turn numb to the sound of your voice
And I numb to the sense of silence.
I question myself again and again,
"Why would I love such a traitor?
How could I care any at all?"
I pour kerosene on all of my memories
And I choke in the smoke of it all
But the feeling of heat it emits erases my pain for a moment.

Pill after pill I become detached from reality.
I can't stand the screaming.
I can't stand this house!
My soul is starving for an escape,
But not even my creative outlet can quench such a thirst.
I need more from this life...
I need more from this God...
So I lie down and soak up the remnants of my useless childhood,
Of my poor and senseless youth that meant nothing.

In the stale air of a bonfire,
I pour all of my emotions into a full glass of liquor
And drink things down.
My motor skills may be impaired
But at least my patience isn't tested with every move I make.
I can feel life sinking into my veins,
Saving me from everything I refuse to be.
At least when I'm alone with it I can breathe real air into my lungs
Unafraid of disappointment, loathing eyes, and destinations I will never achieve.
Alcohol just saved my life.

Wind blows through my hair and across my face
Encircling me with ruffled leaves that fall from maple trees that spread across the land.
I close my eyes and grasp the air in front of me
Hoping someone will be there.
I need someone to lay me down and put some peace in my mind.
The sanity of knowing and comprehending who is my Savior
It eats away
And I feel serendipity wash over me like an ocean wave....

Love is knowing that someone is there to teach you how 2 walk, love is knowing that someone is there to tag along with you so you don't have to watch a movie alone, and love is knowing that someone is there to hold your hand when you feel sad. Love is knowing that someone will depend on you for their school fees. Love is knowing that someone will pay for my hospital bills when I can't work anymore and love is knowing that someone is there to praise my life's work when I am gone.

Love is knowing that someone will come around my page and listen to my karaoke songs !!!
