About Me

Rather than tell you my whole life story in 100 words or less, let me instead try to give you a taste of my personality. I can be funny (which ironically is not a particularly funny thing to say), serious (no, seriously … it’s happened at least twice that I can remember), or seriously funny (and a connoisseur of oxymorons). Indeed, my friends often tell me that I think I'm hilarious (which I somehow still take as a compliment).

Aside from singing (passably) and dancing (poorly), my other hobbies include drawing, painting, martial arts, watching movies, and writing (especially when I get to use ellipses … I like them a lot … I really do (as an aside, hyperbole is the greatest rhetorical device … ever!) I also find statements in parentheses funny for no good reason whatsoever…))).

My Outlook on Singing

When it comes to karaoke, I just like to have fun and don’t really care all that much about sounding like a brilliant singer (after all, mama always told me to never pretend to be something that I’m not ;-P). Thus, most of the time I stick to a “Best of 3 rule” (ie, try 3 or less recording takes and save the best one); I figure this gives me 2 more shots than I’d get in a live karaoke bar (although in a karaoke bar, I’d probably drink 2 more “shots” before getting on stage to sing). This means my recordings range from “not half bad” to “who the heck is that dragging the claws of a cat in heat across a chalkboard?!?!?”

My Thoughts on Listening to Others

I’m way too lazy to find glitter graphics to leave on people’s songs and I’m probably even less motivated to respond when folks leave them on my songs. ;-D I try to listen to new people on a regular basis, but I have to confess … my order of listens goes: 1) my friends, 2) people that have listened to me (ie, returned listens), 3) my favorite performers/singers, and then 4) random new people. Sometimes, real-life commitments keep me from making it to #3 and #4 as often as I’d like.
