"If thou wouldst know the mystic song
Chanted when the sphere was young,
Aloft, abroad, the paean swells,
O wise man, hear'st thou half it tells?
To the open ear it sings
The early genesis of things;
Of tendency through endless ages
Of star-dust and star-pilgrimages,
Of rounded worlds, of space and time,
Of the old floods' subsiding slime,
Of poles and powers, cold, wet, and warm.
The rushing metamorphosis
Dissolving all that fixture is,
Melts things that be to things that seem,
And solid Nature to a dream."
By Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-82).
I've been singing on and off most of my life, but first joined a choir in 1996-97. I earned my first college scholarship by trying out for a choir scholarship. I've taken class and private voice lessons, and have specifically been classically trained.
If I leave you a comment saying you sounded good, I really mean it. I'm not into lying to make singers feel good when they are off key. It's just a lie ... and then those singers can never improve if people tell them they're good when they're not! If I'm off key, even for just a few notes, tell me -- and tell me where you think I'm off key so I can fix it!
I also just can't lie period. Never been any good at it, and not going to start now to up anyone's ego.
I have decided to re-record a lot of the songs I did when I first joined the site. I saved all the lovely comments (including the images!) that many of you left for me to a Word Document and then erased the recordings.
I completed my MBA in Economic Crime & Fraud Management in May of 2009! I've moved two hours south of where I was the last few years, and am living happily with my partner. :-)
I live a 100% gluten free life after my doctor realized that gluten was probably what was doing me so much harm. I also have a form of high functioning autism which no doubt adds to my aforementioned bluntness about not telling you sound good when you don't. :-)
My duets are open for anyone -- I don't really care if women or men fill in -- no matter what the original song was like. All I ask is that you please leave me a comment on my song page telling me you've done the duet, and a link to the recording. Thanks! :)
