I guess I should talk a little about me. I use to sing in 12th grade High School and in College for 2 years. I had some training there but nothing specific. When I was in my 20's I had discovered that I had a 4 octave range so I could sing anybody's part in a choir. This was back in the 80's. I use to get teased a lot for having a high voice and high singing voice so I stopped singing high for about 25 years. Now that I am having my mid-life crisis and wanting to recapture my youth, I have chosen to sing high again. Granted it isn't as good as it was back in my 20's, but that is an "as good, yet". I do remember that my voice never broke but got gradually lowered over time. You hear me speak and I can sound baritone or tenor in my speaking. I am currently taking lessons with a vocal teacher and he believes that I can go far with my voice. We'll see how far. Anyway that is a little about me.
I have been receiving a lot of comments about my "falsetto" voice and I just wanted to clear things up in that I am not trying to sing in "falsetto" voice. According to my vocal teacher and speech therapist I am using full "modal" voice. I don't know why I sound like I am singing in "falsetto" but I can assure folks that if you heard me live, you'd hear that my voice isn't soft of whispery. So maybe what folks are hearing is that I am not fully connected while singing which I am working on perfecting. I hope this clears things up.
Here is a great example showing head voice versus falsetto.
