I've always liked music, but can't say whether I was ever any good at singing.

Anyway, I lost my hearing at 8. I pretty much gave up on anything related to music. I did devour lyrics anytime I could find them. Including everything purchased for my sister to play on our organ. I remember sitting around in the backyard alone trying to sing them.

Eventually, I received a cochlear implant at 26 and have some hearing again. It's a whole different way of hearing and even 20 years later I still find my hearing and speech improving.

I had never sang in public or for any sort of audience since the implant until I discovered online karaoke. I'd sing in the car, lounging around the house, anywhere except in front of other people.

I am no great judge of what sounds good. I listen to and attempt songs I like. Enjoy listening to people with voices I find pleasing. Watching videos of folks enjoying themselves. I'm just having fun with my friends and hopefully improving just by exercising the ol' vocal cords. :)

The key word is FUN!
