Music has always been in my life. I started listening to music when i was 7 years old. I remember back when I had Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' album (recorded in a cassette). But my interest really started when one day my dad brought a vinyl record of Cliff Richard's 'Over the years' and 'Wired for sound'. I remember to this day my dad saying 'Hey, listen to this guy, he has a British background but was born in India' (I used to live in India at that time). So I did so, and I really loved his songs (by the way, I got two songs of his recorded on here 'Devil Woman' and 'Wired for Sound'). 'Lucky Lips' was the song I would sing all day long and I realized that I could pick up the notes quickly and sing it quite fair.
His 'Wired for Sound' record was great too, and I still remember great songs like 'Once in a while', 'Broken doll' and ''Cos I love that rock n' roll'. But my interest in rock music really started with Guns N' Roses. I remember being at a school party and they put on this music with Slash's roaring guitar introduction. The song was 'Sweet Child o' Mine' and I was like 'Wow, this is just so awesome!'. But Guns n' Roses was not quite my style and I couldn't really sing their songs because of Axl Rose's raspy tearing voice. Well, one day my brother brought in an Iron Maiden CD namely 'The Real Dead One'. And that music caught my ears with Bruce Dickinson's high toned voice, yet something that could be imitated or sung with no yelling or growling, whatsoever. The first Maiden song that caught me was the song 'Iron Maiden'. I would play that song over and over again until I learnt the lyrics and could sing it. So one day I found an old microphone (it was a computer microphone, I guess) and an old cassette with some old songs that noone was listening to anymore. I went to my room, and closed the door and sang 'Iron Maiden', recording it with no background music. The result was obviously terrible but that was my first attempt to record and sing and I oh so loved it. But at the same time, I was really shy to sing in front of people and that's why I never took singing lessons which I regret to this day. I recorded some more songs (including a version of 'The Trooper' with no background music, of course) but I would get frustrated because my voice was not sounding that great and with no background music, it would sound even worse. So I gave up the idea of trying to sing and years went by. Well, it was not until recently that I came across online karaoke. I accidently found the ksolo website while looking for CDGs from SoundChoice. I gave it a try and really loved it, although my singing was not that great! And I luckily found SingSnap and this site really got me hooked up. I can feel now that my singing has improved a lot and I am so glad about it. I am not a great singer, but I intend to improve everyday and get good at it! Well, SingSnap gave me the chance and I am having a real blast on here! So, give my songs a listen and tell me what you think! See you all on the 'road'!!! Take care all!
