Sponsorship Program – Turning Blue into Gold!

We are creating a mechanism whereby Users who wish to further help SingSnap, and help Blue members who can't afford to pay for a Gold Subscription can donate to a Sponsorship Fund. You may donate any value to the Fund, via Paypal. We'll use these funds to directly sponsor one month of Gold for deserving Blue members.

To be considered for receiving a Gold subscription, you may nominate anyone who is a Blue member. You can nominate a friend, someone you've just heard, even yourself. Just give us a reason why you think that person deserves to be Gold. We'll select members based on many criteria, including their standing and involvement in the community and how they align themselves with the spirit of SingSnap. This selection process will be private. We expect a lot of nominations, so once we get a list of members who meet this criteria, we will select based on need and on a first come, first serve basis. Don't be offended if you aren't selected right away; we're sure they'll be lots of nominees!

We're proud to have people who so directly wish to help, and think that other people should know of their contribution. So, anyone who sponsors a member directly, or donates sponsorship money to the Fund in the amounts below:

- $14 or more within the last calendar month
- $70 or more within the last calendar year

... will have Patron added to their screen name to recognize them. This status will last as long as you've met the criteria above.

Please, remember why we're doing this: it's to give an avenue for people to help us beyond subscribing to Gold. This is completely voluntary!

Thanks to the response we've received from the community we've been able to make a few projections about the upcoming blue account changes, and we're able to slightly adjust some elements of them. All of these adjustments have been chosen to meet the criteria of our needs while balanced with the wishes of the community.

We've worked very hard to come up with some small compromises, while not drastically effecting the long-term plan for SingSnap, which, in essence, is to survive and flourish. We've also come up with some new dates for the changes to take place. We hope you can appreciate these adjustments"

In a Nutshell

- Blue recording limit would be 100 recordings, a 40% increase over the old proposed limit.
- The low pricing remains in effect for all current Gold members as long as they keep their account, with a 10 day grace period to renew if they turn Blue
- The deadlines have been extended.
- Improvements / changes to the Sponsorship program will be announced in the coming days. Please save your questions about Sponsoring until then!

The Details

January 5, 2009: The Day The Price Goes Up

- The price for a Gold subscription will go up to $12 monthly and $120 annually for all NEW members to SingSnap.
- Any current Gold member account will keep their $7 / $70 pricing. This offer has no set expiration.
- Gold members who are paying the lower rate will always have a 10 day grace period to renew at the lower rate if their account turns Blue
- Blue members will see a notice on their account if they have more than 100 recordings in their account.

January 12th: The Day Some Recording Is Suspended

- Blue members who still have over 100 recordings in their account will not be able to record new songs until they have less than 100 recordings.
- Nothing will be deleted at this point.

STARTING January 19th: The Day The Recordings Are Recycled

- Blue members who still have over 100 recordings in their account will have their excess recordings moved to the Recycle Bin.
- The affected songs will be retrievable from the Recycle Bin for 30 days from the day they are moved.
- This process may take a few days to complete for all members.

STARTING February 18th: The Day The Recordings Are Deleted

- Blue member's recordings that were automatically moved to the Recycle Bin will become unavailable, as the Recycle Bins are emptied after 30 days

February 28th: The Last Day At The Old Price

- The last day Blues members who registered prior to January 6th can subscribe to the Gold Service at the lower price. As of March 1, the price will be $12 / $120 for all Blue Members
- Any Gold member paying the lower rate will keep it as long as they keep their Gold status. This offer has no set expiration.
- Gold members who are paying the lower rate will always have a 10 day grace period to renew at the lower rate if their account turns Blue
