OldLadySal's Profile

OldLadySal's real name is Sally M. Sally is located in Washington / USA and has been a SingSnap member since February 28, 2008. So far she hasn't made any recordings.

I'm a former singer whose age and health issues have done damage to vocal abilities much to my dismay. Not sure I could carry a tune in a basket with a lid anymore! Son member of SS (trknduffer - best singer in our family) turned me onto this site and I am really enjoying some of the great talent out there (son included, of course). Maybe one day, with a ton of practice, I'll join in but, for now, I'm just a lurking listener.

What is it they say - those who can do; those who can't.... are critics?

Time for an April update: #1 son (trknduffer) has set up my system with mic and earphones with instructions on how to sing and record. Won't be right away but I AM working on it. 40 years of smoking led to emphysema with inhalers that wreak havoc on vocal cords. So, I'm learning to sing all over again from warm-up exercises to learning different methods of breath control. (That's the hard part when you're short of breath to begin with!) And I literally mean learning to sing all over again - I was a soprano all of my life and this new contralto sound coming out of me is going to take some getting used to and learning how to sing with it! In the meantime, I'm so enjoying listenng to all of you and trying to sing along....

May update: Many, many thanks to all of you for your support and encouragement. Making great progress! My vocal cords are regaining their strength and I'm even able to stay on key - most of the time. It's thanks, in great measure, to many of you - with whom I sing along. (Such great coaches I have!) The breath control is a lot slower to improve but even that is progressing bit by bit. One of these days.......

June update (should call it summer update): Still working and struggling. (Add allergy season to the mix, now!) Getting closer, though. One of these days when you least expect it......

Joy is singing and filling the air with music - and the Bible tells us to make a joyful noise unto the Lord!
