I joined the US Army, just out of high school. (18 Years old)
I spent 4 years and 6 months or so in the US Army.
I met and made friends with Elvis Presley in Germany (Hell on Wheels) I was the 1st cook at that time in the mess hall that Elvis ate in. Elvis also pulled 'KP' (Kitchen Police) I was the one that told him to take the trash out, and scrub out several trash cans with steel wool. (SOS pads) The trash cans were huge and you had to craw inside of them to clean them. Elvis would say, "OK Cookie!" With a. SMILE. On his face. He was a nice guy and was very easy to get along with...
I also was roommates with Warren Davis (the writer and singer of the song "Who Wrote The Book Of Love?" by The Monotones). they were a six-member rock ‘n’ roll band in the 1950's. They are considered a one-hit wonder, as their only song to reach widespread popularity was the doo-wop hit "(Who Wrote) The Book of Love", which peaked at # 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1958.
Met and got to know some great guys that at one time was like brothers.
YES... friends are friends forever together 'tell the end.
I am very Patriotic!
I'm happily married (my wife told me to say this *grin*)
We have 3 grown kids and 8 grand children (and two adopted GrandChildren....so let see that make 10 grand kids) We should of had our grandkids first... *SMILE*
I like the old songs, and the songs from my old friend Elvis 'Peace In The Valley' buddy, 'RIP'
Old Dude (aka) Jerry
