I appreciate all the support I have received here at Singsnap. So many kind people have been listening to me and leaving comments. I am sorry that I haven't always had the time to reciprocate. I do try to listen to all who have listened to me.
I am a 47-year old mother of 2 sons, ages 11 and 14 (if you couldn't guess that from my handle). I manage my husband's prosthetic-orthotic business but my true love is history. I edit a quarterly historical journal and volunteer for several historical organizations. I sing in our church choir. When I asked a young woman to sing a hymn duet with me, she exclaimed (horrified), "Oh no, I can't sing with you; you have old-lady church voice!"
I sing because music brings me joy. I sing for my own entertainment. Yet, if that were completely true, my recordings would all be private! So, to be completely honest, I must admit there is something of the "ham" in me. I am flattered and gratified when people "tune in" and listen to my recordings. I turned my ratings off because, for me, singing is not a competition. It is more like breathing or drinking water. It is something I need to do to live.
My advice to others is: go ahead, sing your heart out! We all have our own unique voices. Who cares what others think? Do it for yourself! Do it because you have a song in your heart.
