INTRODUCTION TO THE WONDER, THE BRILLIANCE, THE SHEER MODESTY THAT IS MY OH-SO-CUSTOMISED SNAP PAGE:

You're at my profile-like thing. Look at you! Have a look around, and don't be shy. Most of all, if you're going to listen to a track, please-please-please -- say something. Even if it's: 'Wow, this was completely uninspiring and I didn't feel anything at all. In fact, it was SO uninspiring, I didn't even want to leave a comment, but you've so forced me to do so per your profile, so that I haven't come off looking a total ass.' That's fine; but DO say SOMETHING. It really has become a pet-peeve when I get listeners and absolutely no feedback. How can I improve? I'd like to know what works and what doesn't. That's a big part of this whole thing for me, so, at the very least, do say something. I don't bite, really. Not hard, at least, and only when asked, on very rare occasion. So, I think you're in the clear.

If you DO like something -- well, what did you like about it? 'WTG' is very thoughtful, and while I do appreciate your comment (see the above paragraph) it doesn't give me much to work with. (Besides, it COULD be a typo of 'WTF' -- which, in that case, is very different, and would warrant some further explanation, y'know?) I'm also very wry and sarcastic. I'm sure you couldn't tell.

If you DON'T like something -- chances are, I didn't either, and have already commented on it in the individual song info. I have perfect pitch, (i.e., the kind where I can sing anything on-pitch from memory, but not tell you just what key it's in. Occasionally, I can, which makes practising scales away from a piano easier) so I can tell even the slightest deviation from pitch. The tiniest waver. One of the reasons I'm so perfectionistic about my own work; of course, were it ALL required to meet my standards of acceptable (i.e., perfect), there'd be practically nothing public, so I treat this as a learning experience, too, hoping to evolve and polish my natural talent.

I'm also more than happy to critique your work given what I know. More about all of that below in the 'about me' portion of things. Constructively, that is. I won't tell you I like something or don't without giving reasons why. But now I run the risk of repeating myself. I do that at times. Too much going on my head, I think. ... Did I mention I repeat myself? (Yes, that was intended to be humourous. No? Not funny? I didn't think so, either. Man, everyone's a bloody critic.)

Oh, and you may notice I speak using British English -- why, you surely ask, being that I'm effin' American. My mother was raised this way, and so have I been as well. There you have it.

UPDATES / SNAP-LOG: Stardate -- (oh, crap. I'm doing it again ... )

04/2008: The worst allergy season in a decade, and my job which requires me to be around second-hand smoke five days out of the week is wreaking HAVOC on my voice. My recording will be sporadic until I improve my allergy meds, or find a better means of protecting my voice from this onslaught. Whichever comes first. Not to mention that my audio drama series is in rehearsal now, which takes an entirely different toll on it.

03/2008: Hit the High E for the first time again since I was in my mid-teens! HAH! It's squeaky, not very strong, and I can only hold it for about 6 seconds without it sounding total pants, but I'm getting there. My C6 is stronger and clean, so, hey. Goal of being able to adequately perform all of 'Phantom' songbook nigh complete!

7/30/2007: SOUND IS RESTORED! Hallelujah! The audio gods have at long last taken pity upon my wretched, Snap-deprived soul. I've got LOTS of catching up to do, of both the listening and singing variety. So! Do be patient, I promise I'll be getting back into the swing very soon! Thanks so much for everyone's patience, wonderful comments, suggestions, feedback, and constructive criticism. I love it all, and can't wait to check out what you've been up to!

Sing on, fellow Snappers!

7/07: New equipment! Testing it all out, so some levels may still be off from time to time, but the difference in quality is tremendous! Very psyched.

6/07: I'm having a serious bout of summer allergies, and my recording will be sporadic until my voice is back up to snuff.

My recordings use NO REVERB, NOR EFFECTS. What you hear is what you'd get as if I were 'unplugged'. (Well, and using a good microphone! ;) )

THE SEMI-OBLIGATORY 'ABOUT ME':

Fiction writer and data analyst with criminal psychology background. Hobbies and interests include jewellery design, quantum physics, collaborative projects (writing, acting, directing, producing) graphic art, and performing live -- to name a few.

ARTISTIC: Musically, I'm independent, and love doing live performances. I love singing in general, and should, with a rock, operatic and musical theatre background. (Both parents are accomplished cross-genre musicians.) Bit of a versatile mimic. My style is reminiscent of early Kate Bush, latter Tori Amos, and current Emmy Rossum, with a Sarah McLachlan trill. Some of my influences include Blue October, Sarah McLachlan, The Moody Blues, Tori Amos, Pink Floyd, Katie Melua, Linda Eder, Barbra Streisand, Sarah Brightman (musical theatre legends!) -- and well, many more.

EXPERIENCE: I was eight when I performed "Edelweiss" to a small crowd and was urged to audition for Star Search. (Cripes, that ages me, doesn't it?) I didn't, but the following year I did perform "Evergreen" by Barbra Streisand before a much larger crowd (a few hundred) and received a standing ovation. (I was bewildered; my father was extremely proud.) I worked off and on in the studio through adolescence, when not with a show or traditional choir. I really began performing in my mid-teens as a Soprano 1. (First with a classic rock cover band which caught me singing along to their rehearsal, later as a guest vocalist with a few other bands.) I began performing solo in college at the university as one of their "on-call" entertainers. Most memorable: my pianist suddenly having a fit (over what remains a mystery) and leaving the set with five minutes to go. I asked to wrap early, but the management refused. So. I did an a capella of Alanis Morissette's "Ironic" and invited the audience to sing. They did. Now I hit up the karaoke bars on occasion and seem to have a growing fan-base here and there. Thinking of jumping back into recording, though. For now, it's for the fun of improving my (rusting) musical chops. My signature seems to be tailouring covers of songs originally performed by male vocalists for a female. (My currentl favourites (to play with) in no particular order are Isaak's "Wicked Game", "Possum Kingdom" by the Toadies, Cohen's "Hallelujah" with the Patrick Lewallen arrangement, and Radiohead's "Creep" (both in the higher register.)

CRITICISM: Again, as I'm in the process of recording professionally and brushing up to do so, I welcome constructive criticism as well as genuine feedback. As such, I tend to give the same. Should you prefer I not, please send me a private message stating so. I'll be happy to keep listening and silently rate, but I'll keep my comments to myself. I'm a perfectionist, and never intend to offend. Should you be seeking to improve, too, we can provide each other with helpful advice. As you can imagine, I don't hand out 5.0 ratings very often; it must be almost-if-not-perfect. But they do happen! When they do, I'm likely a fan for life.

Oops, bit verbose, there. But then, I am a writer, heh!

Sing on!
