Report of Motor Neuron Disease After HPV Vaccine
Allison Gandey Medscape Today November 1, 2009
Investigators are reporting a case of motor neuron disease after immunization with the quadrivalent vaccine Gardasil. The Merck product is designed to prevent infection with several types of human papillomavirus. Presenting here at the 134th annual meeting of the American Neurological Association, researchers describe a case of rapidly progressive disease leading to the death of a 14-year-old girl. Hi. My name is Deb. And you and your little one look cute as can be together on your profile pic.
FluMist vaccine contains live H1N1 virus, unlike the injectable shot that contains antibodies. The live virus contained in the nasal spray is weakened but it can be transmitted from person to person for up to three weeks.
FluMist’s own package insert reads as follows, “FluMist® recipients should avoid close contact with immunocompromised individuals for at least 21 days.”
.... so it's the nasal spray that carries the live virus and the shots carry the anti-bodies.

You guys need to read up on how a vaccination works....
The government is not using us as guinea pigs... shouldn't you fear the health organization more..? (which people need to give them a break too, it's not easy to try and make a pill to fix every problem an American faces) how much trust do you have when you go under for any kind of surgery or operation. I mean, c'mon. If you really think the government has a grip on every health care facillitator, you really haven't had much exposure to the military, they can hardly get their paperwork correct....let alone the entire gov't "experimenting" on us. If the US gov't wanted to experiment, they'd do it on some third world country...everyone knows that. (it's a joke. sorta) lol

How do you guys survive day to day? Is there a disclaimor at the bottom of the Constitution saying that "Americans will be guarenteed safety" in every aspect of life? Do you drive every day? That involves practically the most risk anyone can take. The FDA does a damn good job considering. Do you know how many people in the world drink bacteria infested water? I don't get the conspiracy theme to these posts. If I *really believed* that my government was out to get me, I'd move. It isn't worth second guessing everything. And no offense, but I certainly wouldn't have kids if I thought where I lived was so corrupt. It's offensive to think there is a nation wide attempt to maliciously hurt it's citizens. Our gov't is made up of citizens, voted into office, by other citizens. Not Satan's henchmen with an evil plan.
it takes time and money to say it's safe, nothing is 100%, nothing. It is called supply and demand American's want a solution, they got it, now it's not good enough. Unreal. That is why no one has to take it. Don't like it, don't do it. Saying the gov't is out to experiment, is paranoia at it's finest.
I can't bring myself to this level of understanding.

so, I guess ya'll are homeschooling your kids? I am talking about vaccines in General.
If your parents didn't homeschool you, then I guess you took all the required vaccines to attend school. You are still alive and kicking, right?
So, if yourself or your kids don't take any vaccines and they were to catch, the measles, rubella, chicken pox, etc ...would you stay indoors till it was over with? Or since, from the gist I am getting, you don't think it is a public health risk, you'd go out and about, pass whatever it is you have to a baby, who has not been exposed to the vaccines that can prevent whatever it is you have at the moment, make them sick and probably die, and you'd be ok with that?

I am referring to babies or toddlers, who can't or are not eligble YET to have that shot. They are at risk, if you don't take the shot and you are sick and go about your day like nothing.
If others have had the regular shots, sure their chances are slim to none but regular vaccines are given at certain ages. So certain kids have not had such vaccines to prevent whatever it is you may have. So, yea, you are putting them at risk.
I got the measles as a baby before I was even administered the vaccine for it. My mom said I almost died! The MMR( the measles vaccine) is not administered till you are at least a year old, I believe. I was only 3 months old when I got the measles. I was very lucky to have lived.

So you got the shot and still got the measles??????????? MMMMMMMM???????? Maybe they gave you the measles??????? Like this vaccine.... It is the flu!!!!! If you want the shot take it but don't try to make me take it too!!!! My Mother took the Flu shot a few years ago and got the flu and had it for over 6 months!!!! Just recently a friend of mine at work was off for 2 weeks. When he came back he told me he almost died after taking that shot. He was Hospitalized for 3 days after the shot!!!!! That is only a a few people That I know who had a bad reaction to it!!!! If you want to take that chance you are welcomed to do so!!! But Please remember I have a right not to???!!! Peace!!!!

My kids don't get vaccinated and yet they are still attending public school. If I can get an affidavit signed and notarized and still send them to public school, obviously the Government isn't too worried about Measles, Mumps, rubella and all the other diseases we are suppose to be vaccinated for. Don't you think that if it were that big of deal that my children would be quarantined at home and not amongst hundreds of other students every day?
Well, I knew about the religious views(being against their religion stuff) that kids can still go to school unvaccinated with the right paperwork but not just because one said so. Did not know it had changed.
Tho,I do know of some parents who will still let their kids play with other kids, even when having one of those(measles, mumps etc...) and it is none of their concern, if someone who is not vaccinated gets it from their kid. I know I would press charges if one of my children were to die from something that could have been properly taken care off, like keeping their sick child at home instead and disregarding someone elses health. I have seen it happen before. My parents being poor at the time that I got the measles, could not do such a thing or prove where I got it from. I know my mom has told me, when I was older, that if she knew she could press charges, if I had died, she would have cus the other parents were irresponsible for at least not keeping their child at home while contagious.
I am sure that you would, Amy, keep your kids at home if something like that were to happen, hope it never comes to that but I am sure you would consider the other children. But like I said, their are people out there who don't care ..
Amymama wrote:Of course I would cheeky.. I would never endanger the lives of other children. You're right. Some parents just don't care :(
By not vaccinating your kids, unless they have an underlying condition that actually would make vaccination potentially lethal, you are endangering the lives of your own kids.

just want to mention that with any drug there is going to risks involved....look at all the disclosures on tv...the small print and now they say it really really fast too....im on a psychiatric drug where heart attack coming off is a side effect and wow the crap that ive been going thru to get off of it..........all im sayin is that it is up to the people to investigate and decide whether the benefits outway the risks and every individuals needs are different.

did you know that plastic and floride are the two worst things for a person and guess what...its everywhere...everything is bad for you one way or another...
JeNnIfErRrRrR ...praying to the porcelain gods again today...being sick sucks!
I think I missed the point of this. Is this thread about that particular case or vaccines in general?
Gardisil is a vaccine used to prevent cervical cancer, not the flu...and it's something patient/doctor discuss not patient/government so this thread seems to have derailed into more chatter about H1N1. In the particular case mentioned...if that girl had some underlying condition, it would be the doctor's place to determine if she should take that vaccine and the patient's ultimate choice, nobody else's.
Every vaccine/medication comes with risks...every person is different and will respond to medications in a different way. What may be fully effective for John, might adversely affect Jane and so on. It is our job to do the research and determine if a particular vaccine is in our best interest, but governments are not force feeding us vaccines...they are simply making them available to those who want them.
Rudy, it's pretty obvious that you don't know or understand how vaccinations (or in turn, the immune system) works. Vaccines help a body prepare in advance to fight illnesses and potentially deadly diseases. Essentially, vaccines give the body a preview of a bacterium, virus, or toxin, allowing it to learn how to defend itself in advance. If the body is ever invaded by that particular pathogen after the vaccine has done its work, the body's immune system is ready. A weakened 'live' virus is injected into the human body, and the body creates antibodies to fight it, so the antibodies are there waiting for the full strength disease. It's very very simple, and it's a procedure that has saved millions of lives. You're telling me that you've NEVER had a vaccination? Not one single jab? You are happy to risk TB, and more seriously to spread the (frequently) fatal disease around? Are you happy to risk your own, and your son's/nephew's fertility if you contract mumps? Will you stand by and let your children die or be permanently disabled by Polio? To risk permanent lung damage or death from whooping cough? To risk the lives of unborn children because you are passing on German Measles? To risk deafness, blindness, brain damage and death from Measles? Do you refuse a tetanus jab when you injure yourself in the garden? Would you rather get Lockjaw than suffer the indignity of a tiny pin prick? You've never had a rabies shot? And you, Amymama - you risk your own life, your unborn child's and the lives of your children? Amymama, what happens if one of your children, or someone at your kid's school (or anyone else you have contact with) contracts German Measles because they didn't have the vaccination? What happens to your unborn child if you catch it because you're not immunised? Do you actually know the risks you are taking? What about HIB? Are you really that selfish? Immunisation prevents the spread of these potentially fatal diseases. They protect us. Small pox was a killer. in the 20th century alone it was responsible for between 300-500 million deaths. How many people do you know who have died from small pox? None? Do you know why that is? Immunisation. Because of the WHO programme of mass-immunisation, Small Pox was completely eradicated. Think about it. A disease, killing billions of people since 10,000 BC...stopped by a momentary pin-prick and a slight feeling of discomfort. For any of you to decry immunisation as anything other than one of the single most beneficial scientific and medical advances, and for you to try and claim you know better is arrogant and selfish at best.

Some people are just all mouth!
And some people are just all ignorant.
Ever heard of Congenital Rubella Syndrome?
Congenital Rubella Syndrome is a blanket terms that covers all the possible defects caused in a child affected by Rubella. These may include:
Miscarriage and stillbirth
Microcephaly - baby is born with an abnormally small head. This often leads to mental retardation.
Cataracts - A clouded lens that makes vision blurry
Glaucoma - Affects the optic nerve and can eventually cause blindness
Microphthalmia - Abnormally small eyes. Can lead to blindness
Heart defects - malformation and heart disease
Deafness - Very common.
Diabetes - May develop as the child grows. This is due to the effect of rubella on the infant pancreas
I was reading and hearing what you were trying to get across right up until the last couple of sentences in your second to the last post. Your overall message was a good one, why taint it by adding the insults?
I tried to put it another way but couldn't. Mistaken is a bit of a cop-out, ill-informed is putting it mildly (there is a wealth of information available that these people ignore because it does not fit in with their world view, instead focussing on poor studies, poor experiments and ridiculous claims) and frankly I am fed up of tip-toeing around people who are old enough to know better.
Yes I do (it should have said 'you would' rather than 'you've') I honestly can't see anyone refusing the shot after they've been bitten, but given some of the paranoia here, it wouldn't surprise me...

It's a worry.
Eh. I've seen first hand what rabies can do. Trust me. If someone had rabies, and THOUGHT they were going to refuse the shots, they'd change their mind in a hurry once they realized how horribly they were about to die.
Although, a rabies shot isn't a vaccine. Not in this scenario/relating to humans.
On August 19, the Journal of the American Medical Association published two important articles written by doctors questioning whether HPV vaccine benefits outweigh the risks of recommending it for all young girls. The intellectually honest doctors publicly criticized the aggressive marketing of Gardasil vaccine by Merck and certain Merck-funded U.S. medical organizations and asked for more scientific evidence that universal HPV vaccination is necessary, safe and effective.
Bad Outcome Report After 1 In Every 1,855 Gardasil Shots
In the third article, written by government health officials, it was revealed that 1 in every 1,855 Gardasil shots is followed by a bad health outcome report to the government’s Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System.
These bad health outcomes reported after Gardasil shots include lots of girls suddenly passing out and having seizures within minutes or hours of getting vaccinated and suffering head injuries and broken bones when they hit the floor. In fact, there is a larger than expected rate of girls passing out after getting Gardasil vaccine.
Girls Passing Out & Having Car Accidents
Back in 2007, the National Vaccine Information Center warned that many girls given Gardasil shots were losing consciousness within minutes or hours. Some girls have left doctors offices and fallen unconscious while driving and had car accidents. This brings up the little known fact that four girls who got Gardasil in Merck’s pre-licensure clinical trials died in car accidents. How many of those girls suddenly collapsed while driving?
Clearly, Gardasil vaccine should be given while girls are lying down and they should be warned that sudden collapse can occur without warning within 24 hours of getting vaccinated.
Blood Clots Reports After Gardasil
What else did the recently published government study on Gardasil reveal? Well, we now know that there is a greater than expected rate of reported blood clots in girls who get the vaccine. Some blood clots can lead to pulmonary embolism or stroke, which means the blood clot ends up in the lung or in the brain. In fact four girls have died after they developed a blood clot that traveled to the lung after Gardasil vaccination.
Most Bad Outcome Reports Merck Files FDA Can’t Analyze
But the most shocking fact in this study is that, although nearly 70 percent of all Gardasil reaction reports were filed by Merck, a whopping 89 percent of the reports Merck did file were so incomplete there was not enough information for health officials to do a proper follow-up and review of what happened to the girls who fell unconscious or had convulsions, developed blood clots or inflammation of the brain and nerves, including Guillain Barre syndrome that causes paralysis, or those who suddenly developed serious autoimmune disorders like rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and more.
There were 32 reports of Gardasil-related deaths between 2006 and the end of 2008 but only 20 of these death reports had enough information to be followed up. There are now a total of 43 deaths that have been reported. How many of those Gardasil related deaths cannot be evaluated because of incomplete information?

With the greatest respect, neither is your husband, or he'd be pointing you in the direction of all the medical and scientific evidence that proves my point.
Would you smoke whilst pregnant? Take illegal drugs? Drink alcohol? I doubt it. So why take irresponsible risks the way you are doing?
I'm sorry. I don't get it - you claim I know nothing because I'm not a professional, but then you claim your husband knows more because he is a paramedic? Surely your husband will tell you of the birth defects a simple disease like Rubella can cause? He must know that the benefits of immunisation massively outweigh any potential risks involved - and let's face it Amymama, the only reason you are scared of immunisation is because you have this half-baked idea in your head that it is somehow a government conspiracy to control you and your family.
It's sad, and not a little scary to see this level of paranoia in a supposedly intelligent human being.

My honest opinion:
Those who spread false anti-vaccine propaganda, as well as those who refuse to receive them, are a danger to public health.

so, I guess ya'll are homeschooling your kids?

It's because of vaccines that smallpox and polio are no longer a threat to most people.
Basically the only people that can even get these two diseases anymore are those living in African slums.

By not vaccinating your kids, unless they have an underlying condition that actually would make vaccination potentially lethal, you are endangering the lives of your own kids.

JeNnIfErRrRrR ...praying to the porcelain gods again today...being sick sucks!I think I missed the point of this.

But I have one question; rabies shots?
You do mean after the fact, yes? Because, unless we actually GET rabies, we humans don't get the shot. lol

Doctors Question Benefits & Merck Marketing Tactics
How many of those Gardasil related deaths cannot be evaluated because of incomplete information?
http://www.nvic.org/NVIC-Vaccine-News/August-2009/Gardasil-Swine-Flu-Vaccines-Inconvenient-Truths.aspx
I wouldn't agree that it's paranoia once you read the facts about Gardasil and the many reactions people have had.
