Wow. I almost cried watching that. :(
I haven't gotten a flu shot in probably 20 years, and refuse to do so voluntarily. It'll never happen, either.....not without about 15 people to hold me down. I assume I'll be forced to at some point in my life, like when I'm old, and living in a nursing home or whatever. But for now, not gonna happen.
I got really sick the last time I got a flu shot. Was constantly ill with one thing after another for a long time, like 2 months it seems like.....I know it was a really long time. I even lost my job back then because of it.
So yeah. I stopped getting them after that, and have had the flu twice.
Cheekylilvixen time 2 watch tv, my shows should b on, better not b reruns!lol
I don't get the flu shot but my kids do every year. WHy? Because of their disease(Cystic Fibrosis). They take a risk wether they get the shot or not. They have an extremely low immune system. They get sick alot, wether they take the shot or not. Last time that they didn't take the shot, a few years back, both my kids ended up in the hospital for 3 weeks cus of the flu. They get their shots on Thursday, including the H1N1 shot. Cus of their disease, they are at the top of the list for getting one, before others do. My kids can die from the flu more likely than others who have a healthy immune system. So, as I said, I(they) take a risk wether they get the shot or not.
There is a plus and a minus for every situation. Each person must decide what's right for them and their families. Ultimately, it's going to be a deeply personal and emotional decision, and stories like these only serve to muddy the waters. I read facts about the vaccine- the side effects and the benefits, then I make my decision for my family. As a result, I chose to not watch beyond the first 10 seconds of this video. I don't need a reporter's angle to help make up my mind.
I've never gotten a flu shot; neither have either of my kids. My husband used to get them because the military required it. He got sick every single time he got the shot. Every single time. People can talk till they are blue in the face about that being a coincidence. I don't buy it.
I will never get the shot willingly.
My heart breaks for that woman and her husband. I hope they can find a cure.

My problem is that the President calls it a state of emergency yet there are not enough flu shots to go around.. Nothing like making people feel comfortable.

After 23 years in the Military, and being forced to take the shots, since I retired i have never taken the shots.. Reason being that every time I took the shots, I came down with the flu and was deathly ill for at least three or four days.. Since I retired, I have had the flu once and only lasted about three days (same amount of time I was sick when I took the shots).. Now tell me why I should take the shots..

from this page http://www.umm.edu/features/flu_vac.htm
Common Flu Misconceptions Despite the benefits of the flu vaccine, several misconceptions persist. The most common myth is that the flu vaccine can actually give you the flu.

interestingly I just received this in an email this morning....don't know how genuine it is but if interested you could always verify the author through info posted.....
something to think about I'm a qualified pharmacist. I've been researching the swine flu vaccine that our government has bought for us (using our money, by the way) and its DANGEROUS AS. Its easy a hundred times more dangerous than the swine flu itself.
Something that freaked me out is that several swine flu vaccine manufacturers have asked governments to give them an exemption from lawsuits, in case the vaccine caused harm in people. If you made a vaccine that you knew worked, then why would you need a legal exemption in case it hurt people? Massive warning sign. They don't believe its safe.
The swine flu itself has killed about 2/3000 people total. The regular flu kills 40 000 plus per year – so why are we freaking out about swine flu, and not normal flu? Does that make sense? No.
If the regular flu kills 40 000 plus per year, and the swine flu only killed 2/3 000 – then why are governments buying it in advance, giving it to us for free, and giving drug manufacturers immunity to legal cases against them? Does that make sense? No.
The swine flu vaccine contains 2 horribly dangerous compounds – one is called thimerosol. It is made 50% of mercury. It binds to receptors in your brain, and basically causes brain damage. Is it smart to be injected with thimerosol, and get brain damage, dropping 10 IQ points and going dumb, in order to avoid getting a flu that kills 95% less people than regular flu? No.
The other horrible in gredient is called squalene. Squalene accidentally tricks your immune system into killing your own cells, which creates autoimmune diseases like asthma, multiple scelerosis, diabetes, and a bunch of diseases that we don't have a name for yet (because squalene hasnt been used for that long, and we have little data on its effects) – is is smart to inject yourself with that stuff, in order to avoid a relatively mild flu, like the swine flu? No.
If you're a pregnant mother about to take Panvax, ask yourself this – why would you take Panvax, when it contains Neomycin and Polymyxin B Sulfate – both of which exhibit positive risk to unborn children – so as to avoid what? A mild flu, that kills 95% fewer people than the regular flu? I scored in the top 0.1% of my state in school. I'm expert at critical analysis of drugs and their effects on humans. And let me be blunt – if someone came up to me with a syringe full of swine flu vaccine, or came near my family with one – I would take the needle off them and poke them with it myself – followed by several very hard punches. This stuff is poison. Don't take it. Don't let your friends take it. Don't let your family take it. If some idiot in a lab coat asks you if you want it, ask them about thimerosol, squalene, and why the company making it wants legal exemption from being sued, and watch their face go into “OMG! I'm being asked serious questions that I don't have the answer to”. Sincerely,
George Mamouzellos Bachelor of Pharmacy University of South Australia

Of course! Keep her home, no school, church, playgrounds, malls. And when you get home, you strip down in the mud-room, take a disinfecting shower and then go greet her. Hopefully, you wouldn't have been out picking up the virus?
I did not get the swine shot.. just the regualr flu shot. I deal with alot of people and a lot of cash daily. and money is really dirty. I admit I'm not the smartest guy around, but I do think the flu shot might help me not get the regular flu. At least I think it's worth a shot :)

She has a very valid viewpoint.
Fair enough, I apologize, but until one possesses a medical degree and a license to practice, I don't think anyone should be telling anyone how to best care for themselves or their children. We have "Medical Professionals" for that who pay VERY large insurance prices yearly to earn that right. I've had the flu shot yearly since 1994 and never once have I become ill from it.

Sorry but I have to disagree with you here. The last time I had the flu was 4 years ago. Never had a flu shot till last week. I now have flu. I started with it last wednesday a few days after having the shot. I do know what flu is as I used to be an Auxiliary Nurse and also worked in an Elderly Persons Home for years. I woke up wednesday morning with my t shirt nighty absolutely wet through, my hair wet through. Thursday night I was shivering, had a nightdress, jammie bottoms and a thick woolie dressing gown with the hood up on my head, under a thick duvet cover, still shivering. Aching, even my eyes were aching. When I coughed all my body hurt like hell. I found it difficult to even walk into my kitchen to get some painkillers.
I doused myself up on painkillers as I had to fly back to Spain on friday. On the plane I had a long sleeved jumper on, my coat and a big thick woolie cardigan wrapped round me, I was shivering but my skin was burning up on the outside.
I've been living on cups of soup, warm milk with honey and water. Unable to eat at all. I'm now taking antibiotics as I now have a chest infection on top of the flu.
I will never have another flu shot ever, ever, ever............
Cheekylilvixen time 2 watch tv, my shows should b on, better not b reruns!lol
well, think about it ...you could have already contracted the flu, prior to getting the shot. Perhaps, you had no symptoms just yet, least not major ones that you would have noticed. Perhaps a sneeze here and there, one thinks, oh it's allergies, or something in the air etc.. If you contracted it before getting the shot, the shot will do no good then.
Tis how I see it tho.. I could be wrong but it is a possibility.
If you are going for a flu shot, ask if they are using a killed virus in the shot. If that's the case, you can't get the flu from the shot itself. Where you might the flu from easily is from the clinic itself where tons of other people are there getting flu shots. But if there is no live flu virus being used in your flu shot it can't give you flu. I looked this up and I'm not inclined to believe the whole government is lying to us all and out to kill us all (which some other posters seem to be suggesting). They have to provide information on the ingredients of what is contained in the flu shots you are getting...ask for them or look them up online.
I don't think I've ever had influenza in my life actually. I'm an obsessive hand washer with a strong immune system. I qualify for the flu shot because of asthma and had it a few times. I got a sore arm in the place where I had the shot and you can also get some more symptoms, depending on the other ingredients in the shot.
With the H1N1 vaccine, I heard on the radio it contains albumin and if you are allergic to that you cannot have the shot (egg white). People can get sick from flu vaccines for the other ingredients, but I don't think people are getting sick because the govt are adding toxic crap into them to kill off the population LOL (which is what I'm reading elsewhere too and I think is silly to be frank).
It was a one in a million reaction to the season flu shot, what happened to Desiree Jennings in this video (condition known as Distonia). "Doctors say what happened to Desiree shouldn't discourage people from getting flu shots."
There's probably more chance in winning the lottery than in your child getting this condition so I wouldn't worry.
My 13 yr old niece was describing this video and why she didn't want the H1N1 shot saying this girl could only talk when she walked backwards, and could run but couldn't walk. Now I understand. What a shame.

Well, it does seem funny as my friend went to the Uk a few weeks ago, had her flu shot and was just as bad as I am now. I never suffer from colds, I wasn't sneezing, coughing, didn't have a runny or stuffed up nose. It just came on so suddenly. I still think it was the flu shot. My opinion and I'm sticking to it, seeing the same thing happened to my friend.
eta I had only been in the Uk for a couple of days before I went to the GP for the shot. I had not been out of my house. Got a taxi from my home to the GP's. I doubt very much that I picked it up in Spain as no one here where I live has had the flu "yet" and I had only gone out to my local bar no where else.
I have only ever had the flu shot once, and I also became so ill with the flu afterward that I vowed never again. I'm no medical expert by far, but isn't it he overprescription of antibiotic medicines that started the problems with MRSA and the like. If no one is ever let build a natural immunity to anything in our societies, at some point there will come along an illness that has evolved to a point that nothing we "make" will do us any good. And as horrible as it may sound(and I know this won't put me on the top of the popular list), there are some folks who don't make it through certain illnesses, perhaps as natures way of natural selection. And for those into conspiracy theories, isn't is odd how this all came about as such a huge crisis at the same time as most of the world is in such a flap about recessions and such? Perhaps this takes the place of people being outraged over the financial state of things. Harder to blame the government for an illness? Jmho.

The swine flu shot is dangerous. The nasal spray, as kitty says...shouldn't be given to the kids or use by yourself whenever you get a cold. I've known this information a few months back and i couldn't believe what a shot has in it such as mercury which is a poison to the body.
The shot most probably won't kill you, but do you really want that stuff in your system and blood? There's a long list of side effects. I guess every case is different for each person though.
Cheekylilvixen time 2 watch tv, my shows should b on, better not b reruns!lol
Well, I aint dead and neither are my kids. No side-effects ,thus far, of any kind other than the area of the shot is a bit sore but that is normal from any flu shot.
PS. regular flu shot also has the mercury in it. My kids have been getting these shots since they were born. My daughter is14yo and my son is 10yo, still kickin! lol
There are side effects to any kind of medication, which is why we should all pay more attention to what is in these vaccinations and not just become another sheep following the herd.
With the exception of myself, every single person in my immediate family has been vaccinated. I am not eligible for the vaccine but even if I was...it's not something I would rush out and get the moment it was available...1000 people waiting outside at 5am to get a shot when the clinic doesn't open til 11am seems a bit rediculous to me, but if people want to stand outside in the cold for 6 hours to avoid the flu and catch pneumonia out there instead...so be it.
I hear people say all the time "i've never had the flu til I got a flu shot", and i'm sure one does have something to do with the other, but maybe sitting around in an unsanitary waiting room with people who are already ill could play a role in there too. Waiting rooms are extremely unsanitary...generally cleaned once a day, with hundreds or thousands of sick people passing through each day touching everything and leaving their germs behind.
When you sit down and pick up that magazine on the table in front of you...you don't know who coughed on their hand or licked their finger before turning the page...and magazines are not sterilized at the end of the day....just sayin...lol
That is a very good point Jennifer. I have never had a flu shot and am not going to start now, but I see what you're saying.
I just think people should have more information before they inject something into their bodies. You may or may not get the flu. I've had it already, as has my husband and daughter. It was not fun, but it didn't kill us either.
So people just have to weigh their options and used their best judgement about the shot.

interestingly I just received this in an email this morning....don't know how genuine it is but if interested you could always verify the author through info posted.....
something to think about
I'm a qualified pharmacist.
Sincerely,

At least I think it's worth a shot

ShawnSnap jack frost in snapocalypse; holiday special naughty vs. niceFair enough, I apologize, but until one possesses a medical degree and a license to practice, I don't think anyone should be telling anyone how to best care for themselves or their children.

Cheekylilvixen time 2 watch tv, my shows should b on, better not b reruns!lolwell, think about it ...you could have already contracted the flu, prior to getting the shot.

Attezo says goodnight, another day is gone and left behind.

Cheekylilvixen time 2 watch tv, my shows should b on, better not b reruns!lolWell, I aint dead and neither are my kids. No side-effects ,thus far, of any kind other than the area of the shot is a bit sore but that is normal from any flu shot.
PS. regular flu shot also has the mercury in it. My kids have been getting these shots since they were born. My daughter is14yo and my son is 10yo, still kickin! lol

JeNnIfErRrRrR ...wtf?...yep that's it...lolThere are side effects to any kind of medication, which is why we should all pay more attention to what is in these vaccinations and not just become another sheep following the herd.

ShyLynn suscription cancelled today.............................That is a very good point Jennifer.
