At the moment I have a 9 year old mic that came with my Dell PC and isn't exactly very good! It's really for voice chat. Can anyone recommend a good mic, either 3.5mm jack or usb that is good for recording vocals?

Thanks

Micflex when the going get's tough, the stuffed get going!

For a quality headset type I like the ones made by Plantronics International, they have an extensive range to suit all pockets.

depends on what your seeking to spend all i can say is don't skimp on the mic!!! the cables you use and the soundcard or dac if your here to just sing and dont care how you sound then a 20$ mic from the shack will be fine but if your serious about your sound its time to look go to guitar center sam ash thare gear is for the pros. I don't agree with this at all! I have a USB mic and I LOVE IT! I have the M-Audio Session mic...but it came with music editing software I bought....I don't think you can buy it alone.
Anyway, I'd never own a different mic! So, I'd say go with a USB!

the cam is USB but not the headphones, singen. Mine came the same way but I don't use the headphones/mic, so would not know where to begin. It;s been years since I have used that set-up and back then I had a cheap sound card, and did not have to deal with SS LOL.

The price went up, but this one is still a great microphone for around 40 dollars:

http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/product/Nady-SPC25-Condenser-Microphone?sku=277522

Needs a battery to power it, and it has a built-in double pop filter to get rid of those nasty "P's" and "Esses".

You'll just need a mono adapter to convert the 1/4" end to a 1/8" plug. Those are cheap and can be found online or at Radio Shack.
