The theme for this weeks challenge is Giving Thanks!
It's that time of the year again. It's THANKSGIVING! Time for celebrating, giving thanks, remembering your loved ones, family, friends, and also, for good food too! Yum. :-) "'Thanks!' For being such awesome people and I truly appreciate you all for a wonderful year of friendship and fun & for many more to come!" :-) HAPPYHOLIDAYS!!!
Thanksgiving, or Thanksgiving Day, celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November, (some celebrate it on a different month or date) at the end of the harvest season, is an annual holiday to express thanks for one's material and spiritual possessions. The period from Thanksgiving Day to New Year's Day often is called the holiday season. Most people celebrate by gathering at home with family or friends for a holiday feast.
Thanksgiving generally is considered secular, or at least nonsectarian, and is not based on any specific religious canon or dogma. Though the holiday's origins can be traced to harvest festivals that have been celebrated in many cultures since ancient times, the American holiday has religious undertones related to the deliverance of the English settlers by Native Americans after the brutal winter at Plymouth Massachusetts.
--For this Thanksgiving week, sing songs that relate or contain words to The Thanksgiving Day Celebration. Also, you can sing a song as a gift of "giving" to a friend, a loved one, or even to a Snapper friend and such. And, as a bonus: You can do a cam show. That would be GREAT and a plus!--

Hi Daniela: You've selected the perfect, though not completely unanticipated, Challenge theme for this week.
My song contains the lyric, "Because the friendship that you gave has taught me to be brave."
While that's taken out of context it really describes the EAW community as we encourage each other to bravely try new things. You all have certainly had that kind of impact on me. And for that gift of friendship I thank you all, whether you happen to celebrate Thanksgiving or not.
HI all.....hope you all have a fantastic Thanksgiving with yummy food, family, friends and an abundance of blessings.......Dani, I love to cook, can't wait to look at those recipes.....and I love puzzles, hehehehe......and the card was great.........
Let me see if I can find a song......hugggs
Jubi :))
Okay found one.........this is about togetherness, peace of mind, harmony, and happiness.....treasures I am surely thankful for.....and what makes it even better is that I had the oppurtunity to sing with the lovely Janet......

Great challenge, Daniela! Well...the title of my song doesn't sound like a Thanksgiving tune, but it contains some lyrics that I really like: "You may be king and you may possess the world and its gold; but gold won't bring you happiness when you're growing old." That is from the Deam martin tune, "You're Nobody Till Somebody Loves You." The EAW family is a tight knit one with much love and friendship among us all and since we are all loved and appreciated here..we are somebody! Happy Thanksgiving to all my dear friends here! God's blessings on you and yours! http://www.singsnap.com/snap/r/b8c0ad5b

This is a song of thanks. It is "You Raise Me Up By Josh Gorbain". I learned it last year in February just after Steph flew back to England where she works with special needs children.
She still doesn't fully appreciate what it meant to me to find her standing in my living room that cold and snowy afternoon in February just so I wouldn't be alone on Valentine's Day. It certainly was me she helped that day and has every day since.

NOTE: Only had an apple and an end of a sandwich slice with a thin piece of ham....I eat backwards for a lighter meal in the evenings. As if you all care. Ha ha. XOXO

Well folks... I apologize for not being around to participate in last week's challenge. I did get a few listens in, but just did not have the fre time to devote myself to any serious amount of listening and therefore I felt it wouldn't be right to post my own song.
This week looks much better. ( I'm not a fan of parades or football, so I'll have most of Thursday to spend on the computer... )
Right now, I'm working on a special thank'giv'n song... But until I get that ready, Here's a heartwarming holiday tale that I posted quite some time ago in another mesage board thread:
This isn't so much the fare as it is just sharing a memory.
Many years ago It was Mrs. woof's and my turn to host the family thanksgiving dinner. My little brother had been overseas on a "study abroad" program while doing his grad school stuff. He had come home for the holiday and Wed night before thanksgiving he joined me at the bowling alley for my league night. The two of us stayed there and drank with our friends long after bowling was over. Mrs. woof went home early because she wanted to be fresh the next morning for all the cooking and prep that needed to be done. She left me with the stern warning that I had promised to bake the pies before I went to bed, as the oven would not be available at all the next day... "Oh no problem" I said..."you know you can count on me."
Well after closing time I explained to my brother that I still needed to bake those pies, so he offered to help since we weren't finished "catching up" with one another. We arrived at my house drunk as skunks and tore into the kitchen like ... well like two stumbling drunks... LOL
For the next several hours, We merrily worked side by side - singing, laughing, banging dishes around, Demonstrating our uncanny ability to turn full cans of beer into recyclable bits of aluminum... And just being goofy. My poor sister in law, who happened to be living with us at the time while she attended college, had the unfortunate luck of being in the bedroom right next to the kitchen. She told us later that she didn't get any sleep all night; not because of the noise so much as the fact that she was laughing so hard from listening to us. the dogs had a wonderful evening due to the fact that apparently drunks are REALLY generous with tossing scraps to a begging dog.
We wound up baking about 6 or 8 pies that night, I had two apple trees and a pumpkin patch in the backyard, so these were actual REAL homemade pies! We naturally managed to dirty every single dish, pot, pan, and cooking utensil in the entire kitchen, (or so Mrs. Woof claimed) finishing just around dawn, in time to both collapse and subsequently wake up just in time for dinner, hung over but happy.
:~)
Now THAT'S what I call a Norman Rockwell thanksgiving memory.
Reply by doobtonesGOLD on November 25, 2008 at 10:06 PM
ROFL at Woofie's story....um....how DID those pies taste??
Well, to me, Thanksgiving is about family....and being home for the holidays...so, here is my song... I am not totally pleased with it, but after about 40 takes, this is what I came up with...lol.

EDIT: Howdy guys...I will retire in a few here but let me leave my mark here..XX Right after Frank its bed for me..well Soon I'm sure (LOL after I go around the net and check emails and things..LOL) GOOD NIGHT!
This is a duet that I did awhile back with Bean. She had already done a recording of this song but when I told her I was going to try to sing it with her, she made a new recording just for me to duet with her. We dedicated it to all of our friends here on SingSnap. Seems like a fitting contribution for this week's challenge. :)

Mavcomart getting ready to head back to nova scotia :-(This is a song of thanks.
Sung with love: http://www.singsnap.com/snap/r/ca11e1397

werewoof says: a penny for your thoughts, $20 to act them outWell folks...

This is a duet that I did awhile back with Bean. She had already done a recording of this song but when I told her I was going to try to sing it with her, she made a new recording just for me to duet with her. We dedicated it to all of our friends here on SingSnap. Seems like a fitting contribution for this week's challenge.
:)
Hope you all enjoy it..
