Welcome to round 6 of the Rock Contest.
Unfortunately, we have to say goodbye to 2 contestants this week.
Little_Wing and Tacklebox couldn't continue for life reasons I am sure so this leaves us with the final 8, with 2 weeks to go.
Below, we will see the totals of the scores for all contestants that remain in the contest.
Each week, there has been a theme and this week is no different.
This week, we are going to get to hear 2 of my favorite kinds of Rock and Roll.
For your first song contestants, I would like your best example of Southern Rock.
For your second song, I would like your best example of Blues Rock.
Now my idea of Southern Rock or Blues Rock, and your idea may differ.
My idea is what is going to go here.
Any question Just PM me or post on the thread.
That will be better than doing a song like Stairway To Heaven and thinking that will fly as blues rock. It won't.
Just ask.

I am going to offer the 10th and 9th place Banners to Tacklebox and Little-Wing in their respective finishes.
Even thought they ended up with the DQ, it took a horrendous amount of quality work for them to get this far in the contest, and I think they deserve them.

I strongly concure with you On this I am sad to see them go though as they are both friends Of mine and very good vocalists....BUT RULES ARE RULES AND SET IN PLACE FOR REASONS good luck to all and I am very excited to see to what ya'll will do this week... and oh yeah don't forget to flag thread people and con-grads to those all still in this thing you are extremly talented

Firstly sorry to see two leave us from the top ten, two very talented rockers who have brought so much to the competition.
Secondly congrats to Tammie for posting the highest and huge (but deserved) score from last round :)
Thirdly AARRGGHHH! Blues rock and Southern Rock?? Ok being a UK based rocker im guessing your not meaning Essex rock by Southern.. lol I think A PM will be coming your way KD :) but im up for the challenge.

HOLY GOOD GAWD!!! As excited as I am to be the top this week, I'm floored at the same time! All I want to say is a HUGE Thank you to all of you who scored me so highly... I can only hope that I can keep up to your standards in the upcoming round! And Southern rock is definitely not my genre! LOL
Good luck to all those left...SO SORRY to see tacklebox & Littlewing go. You're both seriously GREAT rockers! I will miss you both! :(

The pat Benetar tune is definatly Blues. Knew that after 5 seconds.

This is why I started this contest, and it is my belief that each of you improve with every piece of work you put out, and the spirit of this competition has brought your talent and abilities to a new level........
Either that or the lot of you keeps getting luckier every week....lol

In any event, when this contest reaches it's logicial conclusion, I am sure I will be able to say then, as I am able to say now, that I am happy I did this, and I am proud of the work all of you have produced here with this contest as a vehicle for your talent and abilities.

On the Blues Rock im looking to do Eric Clapton - Tears In Heaven. Im mentioning this here cos I know its a hugely popular track and I wouldn't want to tread on anyone else's toes if they had this song in mind too, please let me know if anyone else was gonna do it and i'll try to find something else. OK....Seems as though there are some questions about what is Proper Southern Rock.
"Imagine that", says the Floridian Southern Rocker.....lol.
Anyway, here are some examples.

This will work as Southern Rock as well.
Three doors down has some Southern Rock Roots and even though I don't agree that it is southern rock, Wikipeda disagrees.
I will allow Kryptonite if you cannot come up with anything else.
As for Blues?
Most of you are Guitar players here.
You know what a blues Riff sounds like.
Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton, ZZ top, Kenny Wayne Shepperd....the list is endless.
If this is still a question, lemme know and I will post some proper blues rock examples.
Click on TammieO's Pat Benetar song if you need to know what blues sounds like. This is a good example.

I remember a rock contest about 6 months ago on here and some guy had the gall to say women cant rock and shouldn't be in the contest, boy did he wish he was never born after that day! Lol If he's still around maybe he's still eating his words seeing this contest running and the girls More than holding their own, heck, we'd be lucky to be playing the maracas in their band (no pun intended lol)
