jason somehow found his good voice today.
Hello all,
I'm about to allow all the new testers to have access to the stereo recorder. There is a lot of you, and so this thread needs to be kept CLEAN and ORGANIZED or else I will get lost. :)
So, as of today there is a new stereo recorder (for you older testers) that handles the timing somewhat better. Also, there is a new number on the bottom right while you record. It represents milliseconds, and usually should be near zero. Anywhere between -40 and +40 is normal.
If you do a recording and the sync 'drifts' meaning you can line up the sync at the beginning but not at the end, please note what the red number was in the recorder.
Use this thread to post feedback about the recorder, and the preview player. Don't post a link to every song you do here, there are other threads for that.
Note that the effects might not work after the recording is saved. There are some other known problems too. I'm focusing on the recorder and preview player at the moment.
I'm REALLY counting on help from the existing testers to educate the new testers on how to use this system. The biggest thing to remember is that if you can hear music WITHOUT the Enable Music selected, then you shouldn't enable it. Go back to your Windows mixer and select the Mic only, not the music/mic mix.
IF YOU AREN'T A TESTER, DON'T POST HERE, PLEASE!! Thanks.

Right.....Hmmmmmm.....well.......clicking on enable makes no difference now to the sound for me.....and the player does not change from saying this recorder will be mono...to this recording will be stereo... On the old player...before the enable was clicked...the track was always a lot quieter........now im just confused! lol................

I would love to be able to help others, but I've never been able to select the Mic only, on my computer. It will not let me un-tick the stereo mix, either. (in my volume properties) I was also under the impression, that if we didn't select "Enable Music," that our recording would be mono. It even says that on the preview player. I'm confused again. I'll check the new recorder/player out, though...when I get home from work & go from there. :) Good luck, everyone! Hang on for the ride! :))

Hi
For the new testers.
The easiest way to understand what you're doing is, you're recording your vocals to add to the stereo track. This is why you want your recorder (via the wizard) to be set for mic only.
I've not tested the newer version yet, but, if you find the stereo track is burying your vocals too much, raise the recording level on your player to record your vocals at a higher level. However, this may not be an issue with the new recorder.

that's exactly my problem right now..the music buries my voice..I'll try that thanks

Mine is not sounding like Stereo, I must be doing something wrong? I have "Stereo Backing Track" ticked on the Recorder and Mic ticked, Stereo unticked in my settings, is that correct?

This recording came out good with no delay but my voice volume is too low :} and one thing i notice that everytime im making a new recording i need to uncheck the Stereo Backing Track box then check it again to hear the stereo sound if u dont do that it will be a mono playback its defaulting automatically i think thats a bug.

I can't seem to find a proper time value..its at certain points of the song i find the right value that matches my voice with the music..but then as the music goes along it switches and I am either lagging behind the music or in front of it..so i have to find another value??? Uugghhh what does one do in this situation??

I really like the Millisecond counter on the bottom right. I tried to record once and it never got lower that -67 so I just tried again and it dropped down to between 0 and like -27.
I never had to adjust the timing up or down.
I'll try another song and see what happens.

OKies ... just successfully managed my first one ...
I went to sing and record and the "Use Stereo Backing" was checked .... so I sang (and just recorded mic) ... and previewed ....
On the preview screen ... regardless of whether or not I then ticked the "use music" option .. it was saying "recording will be in mono" ....
Anyways.... it mixed .... and sure enough .. the recording was mono ...
So .... I tried another but this time ... toggled the "use stereo backing track" off .. and then on again (so I could see the track reload) ....
I sang .... and previewed ... and this time .. when I chose the "use music" it changed to "recording will be stereo".
It took about a minute to mix and I didn't have to change a thing.....
"You Raise Me Up - Josh Groban" .... but I think it loses synch about 75% of thge way through .. but then seems ok again at the end ...
Weird... but I'm gonna keep playing :-)

Ok I just figured out how to level out the music and my voice..but am having a huge problem with the timing of my voice to the music.....
I can't seem to find a proper time value..its at certain points of the song i find the right value that matches my voice with the music..but then as the music goes along it switches and I am either lagging behind the music or in front of it..so i have to find another value??? Uugghhh what does one do in this situation??
