I am not certain I understand the thinking or perhaps the legalities of this subject, but I will post a suggestion on it.
Question: Why is it, if you block a certain member, they are still permitted to access your songs and listen?
When the site was completely free (no paid memberships offered) I could understand it because it was a public site. However, could not Gold Members be given the option to disallow any blocked member from even accessing their song pages?
Seems to me that would not be out of keeping with whatever your governing rules of operation are.
If you could explain the whys of this, I would appreciate it.

If you don't want someone to hear you simply don't record. I don't think SS mas intended for anyone to record for just certain people. Block a comment maby but not to listen Ben

I am not sure how long you have been on this site Benji20_20, but early on, if you blocked a member, they could not even open your song list page, let alone listen to your songs...and play with the number of views, etc.
Its just a suggestion...I see nothing wrong with it. There are people that are on this site for one reason alone, to cause mischief.
I think that these should be exposed to all the members such as real name, adress and so they can be confronted. I'm sure that would help cause if they were near me i would go and see them. maby you can help me with this, I continuly get hard music comming over my site and it just plays about 5 sec. stops and then continues several times and then i get someone talking as if it were some program of some sort for 5 sec. and then back to this harsh music. It just started today and it plays right over any recording I try to listen to. Ben

Perhaps I am mistaken.
I am trying to recall, but I thought the blocking was always this way on SS. Kupsuperstar (and I think Ksolo also) had the blocking the way you mentioned. Maybe it could be an option? If it's just someone that is annoying you with their rude comments, you could just block comments.
However, if it was a stalker-like situation, I wouldn't even want them on my page.
Classic-Country, "confronting" someone from the internet is a potentially dangerous situation; for both the person being confronted and the person doing the confronting.
connieg is looking forward to seeing dydy tonight! but nothing to wear...
It used to be that way before public yes...and I remember saying I'd pay for that! LOL
What I find frustrating with this block is if in a competition you are asked to listen to everybody and vote and you find yourself blocked because to be true and fair which I always am you need to listen and I always listen all the way through but you can't comment and it may look like you are being rude to the judges when you say "listened to everyone " then they don't see your comment on the song tand think you are lying..... or the person if they have trackers think you are stalking but you are only being true to the contest.
Maybe that is just me...that's why I like to know at the beginning that you don't have to vote on people... that cures that problem..

Thanks for the input everyone.
As with others on this site....I have gotten the rater hater thing....and some rather unkind private messages...never anything rude in comments...that would leave the rude person too exposed. I turned off my comments and my ratings option...now they play with the number of views I have...refresing song pages to drive the numbers way up in relations to the number of comments. Even making all the views exactly the same on each song.
It happens EVERY time I leave songs on here...so I know its not just coincidence. What troubles me is, there are actually people or a person who waits for me to post so they can do that. What sort of individual is this?
Anyway...I think making blocked people unable to access your page at all is a good thing.
Or, at least turn off the number of views display...have that for an option. That way a person can take away all the trouble maker's toys.

Well, chances are, I already have the person, or persons who are doing the views thing blocked. They can continue to drive up my views because they can still access my page when I have songs here. This is why I made the suggestion to disallow blocked people access to members pages.
At least they could perhaps give us the option to turn off the number of views display...as they have with comments and ratings.

I hear what you're saying and understand the angle your tormentors are trying to play with your songpages to try discouraging others from listening to your songs from the seeming high ratio of views to comments, but I wouldn't get so stressed about it. I don't get too concerned about that kind of thing, or the song ratings for that matter either, because I'm not that interested in getting more listens or picking up more fans to flag me on their favs list. Maybe it's because I've been here a while and don't have the time or interest in picking up more folks to reciprocate listens/comments with while that's not the case with new members who are still building their circle of friends.
I think that jerks who inflate your views counts artificially will only affect the interest that new or casual listeners have in your songs, not the fans who already know you and have gotten interested in hearing you. At this point, for me, it's only the latter group I'm that concerned about and have much time for.

This one, however, is an issue that anyone here would probably get upset about if someone they don't like is poaching their songs and trying to ruin them with sabotaging duets. I think that both blues and gold should be able to block someone that's harassing them from being able to record duets off their songs, esp. since you have no ability to delete the duet after your tormentor has recorded it without your knowledge or permission.

yes and no... they can not duet with you by clicking your name... but can record your song to a record and sing withyou and post it on their name,,,,,, thats why we need a total block not a part block...

well, the songs that you have listed as public can be viewed by anyone on the net....
if you blocked someone and they couldn't see your song, they could simply log out of their account and view it anonymously....

connieg is looking forward to seeing dydy tonight! but nothing to wear...The problem you will have there then.. is not knowing who to block in order to do that.
I know what you mean by the song view some people re-load songs just to make it appear that your song is not worthy of comments...

FYI, there is a whole section about blocking in the FAQ now:
http://www.singsnap.com/snap/help/faq
Look under "Blocking Members".
