I, myself have entered into contests where I entered a particular song that I have actually won in a real like Karaoke Contest, and was eliminated here with the same song.
Just as an example, here is the song:

That song is actually with Tommy Roe low in the background singing and me singing above him. Now, why would I lose with a song like that? On pitch, on key, timing good, etc..all great. Who knows why I got eliminated, and who cares?. And guess what? It wasn't important to me that I won or lost. It was just fun doing the song, and being in a contest here with others.
