Match TWENTY SEVEN - The League of Extraordinary Snappers

Salutations & felicitations Extraordinary, &, may I say, Obscure Snappers!!! I had a fascinating time seeing what songs you picked last time out…several I expected, several I would never have guessed anyone would pick!!! I hope you all enjoyed the selection you had to choose from…next time that round comes up there’ll be even more to pick from!!! lol Anyway…that was last round…this is Round 27…& it’s time to go obscure!!! Woooooooo

This round is all about picking those not so well songs you don’t hear that often…every round so far we’ve seen a lot of very well known songs & artists…this time around the hope is that many of us won’t have heard of many of the songs which are entered. These songs can come from anywhere (as long as they have been officially recorded by a genuine recording artist), but must NOT have charted in the Top 20 in any charts, may not be those well known songs from famous musicals or films…& MAY be album tracks unreleased as singles. They may NOT be cover versions of very well known songs, since that defeats the object of the round!!! I’ve found that if anyone is struggling, to pick all your favourite artists & see what SS has from them…then cross reference with Wikipedia to see if any songs you know were either not singles or from films/musicals or charted outside the top 20…you may be surprised at how many songs you DO know which never did that well. I looked up Elvis & found that a fair proportion of his hits were lesser ones, & I KNOW some of them will be on SS, so it follows that the same will apply for other artists too. I know many of you have been searching for songs already, those that haven’t….better get cracking!!!

You will be scored this round on how obscure your song is…so if your choice charted as high as 21st & your opponent’s never broke the top 100, you’d better absolutely nail it!!!

Don’t forget, the ONLY restrictions in the League are that your entry qualifies under the theme of the round…ANYTHING else is allowed (I’m still getting people asking if this or that is allowed…ANYTHING GOES, providing it fulfills each round’s criteria!!)

Round 28 will run from the end of Round 27 until 7pm SS time on Monday 13th October. As many of you will know, I’m a big fan of duets & always have a selection of Open Duets available…so this round I want you ALL to sing with me (individually!!!! I hate to imagine the sound quality dropout if we tried to get 60 people singing on the same song!!!) You don’t have to use one of the open duets, many of which are with me doing the harmony & just requiring a lead vocal, if you don’t want to…you can add a harmony to any of my other songs, or be silly with me on one of my character songs…the choice is yours. You will be judged on the usual categories, plus whatever else applies for the song you pick, so if you go for a classical piece, you’ll be judged on classical style, if you go for a funny song, you’ll be judged on comedic interpretation…if you go for a rock song you’ll be judged on energy, etc And since I always listen to duets done with me, once the round is over I shall be listening to all of you (unless you are submitting a prerecord you’ve already done with me, which a fair few of you have!!!) :))))))

It’s our last jaunt back into the past, & it’s to my favourite decade for songs, the 1980s (actually, 1976 to 1986 would probably be my favourite 10 year span!!)…so it’s anything recorded or released between Jan 1st 1980 & Dec 31st 1989 this time :))))))

This round does potentially involve doing some research...I'd either go through my list of favourite artists or songs...or else go through the SS genre listings...& then Wikipedia the ones I knew weren't big smash hits or from globally successful musicals to see how well they did
