Humor in text can be a tricky undertaking. The reader can't see the tongue in cheek or the grin, or even the sly smile on the writer's face... all they can see is the cold hard written word. I didn't see anything so bad and I scrolled all the way through. I have seen things on some of these threads that would make a sailor blush. lol. Nothing out of line here that I can find.

Oh any old spot is fine with me. ( hope that one isn't bad luck. lmao.)

While we are waiting, maybe we can all sing "We are the World".

All on the same song, don't forget to enable duet. lol.

Actually I wonder how many can sing on one song? Or is there a limit? 12 of us sang on 12 days of Christmas last year. I guess there is no limit as long as the last person always enables duet.. lol... Well that's one idea for a tribute if 50 of us sing together..

Actually, i think a lot can sing to any song...like "We are the World"...all the last person to record and save will do is leave the song open for duet when saving so that the next person can "duet" to the song again and so on.. :)

Well since I opened my mouth and started it, I went ahead and started off a recording of "We Are The World" It isn't exactly contest sanctioned because I haven't seen a comment from a host or judge about it but at least it's something to do while we wait for 50 people. lol

If each person sings one line of the verses, I counted between 30-40 lines depending how you divide them up.

I sang line #3 in the first verse and I guess everyone sings on the chorus: "We Are The World........Just You and Me"...

I think we should all save in mono (uncheck Enable Stereo) to avoid all the echos and unsyncs... the very last person can save in stereo and bring it all together...

witty las, you seemed interested and Lorrieonline maybe you two will join in and pick a line of verse and we all sing the chorus..... if we get it going that far maybe we get 40 or so more? lol...

Don't forget to go back in "edit" and "allow duet" so the next person can join in..

Oh and if it's against contest rules... just disregard all of the above... hahaha

PM everyone? lol that sounds like work, but is probably the right idea.

I just thought it might be something fun to do while we wait for 50 entries and the thread seems to be crawling with Michael Jackson fans anyway.

But witty las I think you have the right idea, maybe some organization is needed instead of just throwing it out there and hoping for others to join. Would it be better to assign each singer a line to sing solo like in the original?

Maybe see how many are interested first, then divide the song up according to that? Even half a dozen or so could put together a dynamite version. Like Donny says, we might have till Christmas before Round One starts, so there is plenty of time... lol.... and who knows when we will ever get this many Jackson fans together in one thread again?

Yeah, we need to PM them coz they aren't always on the thread and not really reading what's going on here...and one thing we can do to promote this contest is to post the contest thread link when we sing a song everyday for feature...and invite friends telling them how many more slots are needed...and i agree on assigning lines or phrases on the song...listen to the original recording of "We are the World"...youtube might have it and see if a guy or girl sing what part and take note of each lines or phrases each singer sang....then listen to the contestant and see who fits on which line...a lot of work but will be an achievement if you can do it...and this is just my suggestion....it can help or not...however you might take it! lol!

i was choir conductor for small church choir and it surely takes patience and a whole lot of efforts to put in a good choir presentation...to both the conductor and the members of the choir...and yeah coordination, cooperation and commitment is the best formula...you don't even have to have a master degree in music to come up with a good musical presentation, you just have to have a love for music...and if you have it, you are ready... :) good luck MY FRIEND! hope this helps.. :))

Wow I been viewing "We are the world" on youtube and it isn't the free-for-all I was thinking.

Its more a series of solos and duets woven together with the main group singing at the finale. Even the choruses at first aren't the whole group but duets and trios.

Gonna start listening to each participant on the list now and try to get a feel for organizing individual solos and duets. Maybe get a list of the entire lyrics and highlight individual parts in blue and PM a copy to each singer with their part highlighted.

If anyone has any preferences as to what part they would like to sing, PM me. Otherwise witty lass and myself will assign you the solo and duet we feel will work best.

There are actually 15 major parts for 15 different singers on the original.. if we don't get that many, some will have to double up, but we already have a great variety ranging from soprano to bass... will see how many sign up in the next day or two then try to put it together..

Last singer will enable duet also, so that everyone who participates can rejoin the finished product and have it show up in their own recording library if they wish..

Sorry to put a cloud on the project, but.. isn't it limited to 'Gold' members only for duets? (Just a thought to avoid possible problems..)
