I've seen comments that it bothers some people to use their playlist because it adds listens with no comments. I don't personally care if my listen/comment ratio is "off", but I do like someone to know I was a repeat listener of their song.
How about an automated comment is posted on the song each time you play a song from your playlist? Something like "playlist view" or "loved it so much, I'm wearing it out" or something much more clever than I can think of.
Ah, I didn't think of that. Would it creep people out to know how many times someone had listened to their songs? I don't "think" it would bother me. I'd be flattered.
This suggestion is only for the playlist tho. You could always lurk by just playing the song regularly.
Thanks for responding..I was beginning to think I was being ignored. ;)
Well NO, you're not being ignored! I get your point, and I think it's a good idea.
I have different playlists, and some songs I play an awful lot. I don't like the idea of having to admit that LOL.
What I don't like about playlists as they are - and I think that is part of the problem - you have very little time to comment if you do listen to the whole thing. Sometimes I miss the opportunity to comment and it just moves on to the next song. Either I have to go back (and thus adding more views...) or I just omit commenting. I think it'd be cool if there was another way to do this. Maybe a kind of a tab that pops up after, like, 5 songs (maybe more or less) asking you how you liked them. You should then have the possibilty to send comments for these 5 songs AFTER listening to them (as opposed to WHILE listening to them, as it is now); that means, without having to re-load the songpage again. Not sure if that is possible, but it would be awesome I think.
Alternatively, ... why not let the singer know that his song is on somebody's playlist?
Hmm good point about not wanting someone to know that you've listened to their song 500 times (could seem stalkerish). The automatic comment thing could be an option you could turn off, I guess. I personally would be flattered, not worried, if someone listened a lot to any of my songs.
When I listen to a song on my playlist now, I do go back and put on each song "playlist listen...still love this!" or something to that effect. But that sort of defeats the purpose of the playlist I think.
otherwise for those who don't like the views goin up, they could introduce the 1 view per member. Like if i visited 10 times to your song, it will only show up as 1 view :) then there won't be playlist anxiety.
I'll repeat, just for you dandare, since you apparently didn't read anything, just posted your comment.
SOME people are bothered by the fact the playlists adds view but no comments. As most in online karaoke world know, loads of listens with very few comments USUALLY equals, the song was so bad no one had anything to say.
So, no, I'm not "frickin' kidding you.".
I personally am not bothered by low comment/ high listens, but others are.
Oh! I love this actually... The playlist stress me out because just as much as I don't like receive "off" numbers, I don't like giving them and the playlist doesn't always give me time to comment.. I think this would be fab!
I don't think I would mind in the slightest if someone listened a lot! I would too, be flattered! Big Time!

This is a FABBY idea I remember discussing a 'who was on your song' idea way back it didn't seem to get a lot of postive input, however, this is a much more warranted purpose.. ....being that 'back space button '(something people were apprehensive about cos they used it a lot) isn't so much used for playlists..I remember 'testing' the playlist songs when it told me 'that recording wasn't available'
This is a fabulous idea Monique! and anyone else who suggested similar in the past etc too. . Hope you don't mind this being posted here. .
Can I suggest while alterations are being made, that consideration be given to making it easier to load your play list?
. An idea would be a to be able to have one little tab that you click and the first two songs of your faves that have recorded are all loaded, and add to this an adjustable functionality to load more or less of your faves songs in((i.e. more or less fave members or more or less song's), and the ability to not include those who have not sung with a certain time frame that you can also adjust? and to have what songs you have listened to remembered so you can hear other tracks that the member has done and not duplicate.
and one more thing, if I want to load one song at time from the feature page or the new recording or from whoever on site, then could we have a one click add rather than go into the song, Pretty please with sugar on top, and some glazed cherries, and ice cream, and stuff lol
steve wrote:and one more thing, if I want to load one song at time from the feature page or the new recording or from whoever on site, then could we have a one click add rather than go into the song, Pretty please with sugar on top, and some glazed cherries, and ice cream, and stuff lol
Yup, I've been asking for that since the playlists came in. A little button under the song to click on to automatically add it to a playlist
Whoops - I must be adding loads of views with no comments :S I often use my playlists as a favourite radio station or favourite CD lolol - I start it and listen to the songs I chose because I love them, while I study, cook, iron, read and so on... I already commented on each of those songs and I also always write I playlisted the song when I do so. I can understand if some find it a problem having loads of views with very few comments as it can make it look as it's a bad recording... so I agree some changes could be done here. The option to leave an automatic comment is fine but I think it should be optional both to leave and recieve... Personally I think I'd prefer Attezo's suggestion about 1 view per member ^^^^ over causing someone's song page being filled with "Ida-Fina listened through the playlist" like 20 times (when I iron I iron a lot lmaooo)... :))
Monique wrote:Good point Ida. One view per person would work as well.
I soooo wish they did it this way.
My playlist have been rendered absolutely useless at this point. I wish there was a way to use this feature. Right now there's just so much work and too many negative draw-backs (In MY eyes) :(
Shannon, I know the views/comments thing bothers you a lot, that's the main reason I started this thread. (You gave me the idea, I mean). Why don't you just let your friends know that you've playlisted their songs and give them a heads up that there will be extra listens? It's not a great solution, but the playlist IS a wonderful feature that you should be able to enjoy. I try, at the end of my listen, go to each song and say "playlist!! Me again" " or something like that, but don't always make it. I'm not personally bothered by the comment/listen ratio. I know who listens and who doesn't. Comments aren't a great indicator of who listens, we both know that. ;)

cwang, It doesn't bother me. If you had read the previous posts, you'd have seen that I didn't not start this thread because it bothered me. But I had noticed other people saying that it caused them some distress.
Someone must have thought it was worth considering since it was made a sticky.

Cool suggestion. I do listen more than one time to the same song but i don't leave a comment everytime cuz i don't want to look like i'm a stalker lol
BUT as for a playlist sounds fine....would sound GREAT if for example u click a button that says: I visited your song through that 'title' playlist.
