This challenge is open to all. It runs until Tuesday Sept 30 at 6PM EDT. Its purpose is to give people a forum to have their songs heard. There is no judging involved. Everyone who participates is a winner.
PLEASE READ THESE GUIDELINES AND THE THEME DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY BEFORE POSTING
1. Post ONE OR TWO songs that fit the theme. You may post a THIRD one on or after Thursday. You may post a FOURTH song on or after Saturday. Your song can be a new song or one that was already recorded.
**2. For EACH song you post, listen to at least SIX other people’s songs and leave feedback. That means, if you post 2 songs you should listen to 12 others over the course of the 7 days of the challenge, a little less than 2 a day. If you post 3 songs, listen to 18 others and so on. You may, of course, listen to more if you choose.
Listening is the most important part of this challenge. Supporting and experiencing others is what it’s about.
3. We prefer to listen to the whole song. Try not to listen to the same people every day. Give new people a chance as well.
4. Please do not post glitter or large graphics as feedback or in the thread.
5. You don't need to post a song to listen but you need to listen if you post a song. It's best to post earlier in the challenge. But you can post up until the end.
6. Please avoid making multiple posts in a row by going back and editing your posts if you left something out. You have 30 minutes after you post to add to or correct your post by using the EDIT button.
New challenge themes are announced every Tuesday at 6PM EDT.

In Challenge No3 we had The British Are Coming, I thought it had been Rock but it was more general than that. That’s not good enough for me! I will make you proud Little Britain’s yet, just you wait and see!
For this week, I’d like to invite you all over across ‘the pond’ as you call it to sing Britpop!
"..."Britpop" is a brand of UK alternative/indie rock that emerged in Britain from about 1988 onwards. It was mostly an early to mid 90s phenomenon. The genre became a rebellion against the American grunge scene that was taking the music world by storm at the time. Britpop reached its pinnacle in 1995/6 with intense rivalries between Oasis and Blur and their infamous chart battle known as "The Battle of the Bands". The genre fizzled out at the end of the 90s, although a second wave of Britpop has started in the 00s. ..." source= DigitalDreamDoor.com

Good one Janet......And since I can't breathe to sing,,,,I was lucky to find one I had already done.....might not be much of a mingler this week....still in that reflective mood.....but I sure can listen......

Oho this'll be interesting Janet ...I don't know most of these names ...but then I am about 21,000 km from Britain according to a sign on top of the lookout here :-) so guess it's no wonder ...oh what a poor excuse ... ...off to research
I guess I'd better put this in quick...it's the only thing I see on that list that I remotely know, don't really even know it - but tried it once after hearing someone else sing it. I can't sing at the moment, so I don't foresee being able to do anything else for awhile.

So.... I couldn't help but notice how many of the groups in that list are terribly under-represented here on singsnap. I may be way off base, but wouldn't these groups also be considered britpop, even though they may not have been in the "top one hundred"?
The Ting Tings, S club 7, Fine young cannibals, Dodgy, Haircut one hundred, The Verve, ( or for that matter,) The Verve Pipe,
Please correct me if I'm wrong, and feel quite free to be judicious with the application and implementation of the bendy ruler Janet.

Looks like a listen to the music week, lol Like some others have said, I really only heard of a couple of them groups and worse, I have no idea what songs they do lol Unique challenge, got to love it. Educate me people.
this is one I had to learn when I first sang it as I'd never heard of this group ...well that's not new ...most of these groups are a bewilderment to me ...LOL
Tee hee I knew you would struggle and that's exactly why I have made it limited to the list... now you're all opting for the easy ones.
But if I remember rightly when we started these challenges it wasn't about coming here and singing easy songs we all knew, a challenge is called a challenge because it makes us tackle something new which makes us grow...
So bendy ruler is out. I went through the top 10 and found songs by all except Kula Shaker and Stone Roses (Stone Roses excellent by the way) are on here. And yes, you should know the top 10! I'm shocked at you... it isn't summer anymore you know.
I think best bet is to pick a name, any name, and then see if it is on Snap, if yes, pick a title the sound of you like in the Snap and go look it up on Youtube, most will be there.
That is how I have tackled every single challenge here and any song... I don't sing things I know! :D Remember I am in the minority when you do all your American Challenges and do I moan to you ;-)
Now quit moaning, it's not Everyone's a Moaner, it's Everyone's a Winner... :D I can wait, I've got all week! :D

Yes Jenny I don't know half the songs I sing. I really don't know an amazing number of songs at all. Even the one I keep trying to do tonight but it keep freezing I am learning. I have heard it but never sung it. It's excellent by the way! You'll just have to wait.
LOL Jenny, alright for some! Okay, I'm going to try again because I don't believe in quiting and I'm not going to just sit back so there! hehehehe.

This will certainly be a challenge being that the only 3 Britpop songs I know have already been sung! LOL. I guess the old dog will be learning a new trick tonight!
First time ever hearing this song , but I liked it ... so heres a tune by a band called Radiohead -- songs called High and Dry .... This is fun so ima fish for another tune ,,, Great idea Janet .., Rick
Reply by squirl8GOLD on September 23, 2008 at 9:33 PM
Ok I do believe this is the hardest thing I have ever tried to sing....but...As Janet said this is a challenge and you are correct you do not moan to us. Thank you because I needed that kick to get me in gear for this challenge, so after looking at 14 or 15 different artist and listening to their songs I found one that I thought I might be able to sing. I hope you like it and thanks again Janet:)))))))))
Reply by ImJimBobGOLD on September 23, 2008 at 10:05 PM
Ok I wore my voice out trying to learn this song. I have never heard this song before tonight so what it is is what it is...lol. For those that are perfectionist, just skip this one. But for those that are looking for a good time.....
Daniela4Luv wrote:Oh dear...what can I sing...help?

I have another one or two which I will give you later... going to be working on another brilliant one tomorrow LOL

ARGGGGH SANDY stop being Yellow and gimme it back! I love that song and even if it is entered 25,000 times in this challenge I want to hear it! :D Please!
EDIT: Jay, I love Depeche Mode! :D I don't know is the answer, are they more New Wave? Maybe check wiki - they tend to clarify stuff.
EDIT: I have been perusing those titles up here and every song I look forward to hearing... Sandy, I did not mean you had taken the easy option, I meant all those who said they would sit out and listen... I'm only just getting my reading in as I spent good grief should I admit to it, started just after 9pm, posted 3.30am... yeah, that's about right so determined am I to enjoy this challenge :D
I am so glad the school is on strike again tomorrow... So, must get some sleep, no doubt done more damage to my eyes with the bright light too... so I'll grab one or two in no particular order and really catch up tomorrow.
Thank you everyone and good night Zzzzz. :D GRIN!

This will certainly be a challenge being that the only 3 Britpop songs I know have already been sung! LOL. I guess the old dog will be learning a new trick tonight!

Ok I wore my voice out trying to learn this song. I have never heard this song before tonight so what it is is what it is...lol. For those that are perfectionist, just skip this one. But for those that are looking for a good time.....

I felt exactly the same way 3 hours ago Dani... But I started looking thru the bands.. and randomly looking up songs by them and googling youTube videos until I came across something i was vaguely familiar with thru air play on the radio...

I thought I was cultured but I guess I have a few gaps. I have heard some great new songs during this challenge thus far. I must have been stuck under a rock!

:D GRIN!
Rule -r (bendy) Britannia, ... da da da daaaaaaa da Zzzzzzz.
